Airport Closed In Kansas City

We had heavy rains last night, turning to sleet, then a couple of inches of snow. The interstate is closed north of KC up to Iowa. Red Cross is on site assisting motorists stranded behind the semis, whose inability to continue was what shut down the road. Very sad. . .

But now for the most tragic part of the event--because after all, it is all about me! Instead of departing at 2:30 today, I cannot get out of KC until Saturday night. I got the last seat on Southwest on a flight that goes through Oklahoma City to get to Vegas. Sadly, I will not be in OKC long enough to see my boyfriend.

Now for the good news! Marisol at Red Rock cancelled my reservation for with no fee. She was great. Jessica at Alamo is changing my pick up to Saturday AND letting me keep my current rate--it would have been $400 MORE to re-book! Planet Hollywood is changing my three night reservation by one day and all is right with the world.

I just want to say that having something sh***y like this happen, especially at the holidays when I was going out to see my family, could have been a really big cluster. Especially for us LVAers who stay at multiple hotels, etc. Folks really went out of their way to help me and I wanted to share that on here.

Now I am breaking into the fudge I left out for my pet sitter.
Happy Holidays and stay safe.
Sorry you got delayed, but on the bright side most flights after the tomorrow's apocalypse probably won't be crowded at all...
Glad you get outta there and to Vegas for at least a part of your trip!

I just got home.

Flew to Las Vegas Sunday and had my flight cancelled Thursday. Rebooked on the last flight of the day Friday which was late. Arrived at KCI at 1:15am today then drove home and walked in the door at 3:45am.

Too bad you couldn't get to Vegas on time so you could make a winning bet on the Jayhawks vs Ohio State. BTW, there were tons of KU fans at the South Point when I was there watching the game Tuesday.

Sorry to see the weather mess up your trip.

Well at least the apocalypse would solve all the national debt problems.
