I am a 64 year old man who was raised in a time when prople went about fully clothed at all times. We did not go about in public with our pants down around our knees as a matter of common dress, This was called public indecency and you would be arrested for it. Women did not walk about with their breasts hanging out and their nipples showing. Their butts were a mystery that was unvieled on wedding nights most often.
Cursing was not allowed on television. Even the word divorce was banned. There was no such thing as terrorism, crime was very low. I could walk the streets safely at night. People said hello as they passed one another on the streets.
Our children had not yet learned to kill one another in school yet and the murdering of unborn children in the womb was not yet celebrated as a womans right.
This is the world i come from. So if i find it a bit difficult to deal with another total stranger running his hands up my legs and up the back of my rear end in an airport full of people for whatever reason, well, i feel justified in being uneasy with the process.
Perhaps you are just too young to remember safer, happier times. Perhaps you are just obnoxious. Either way you show low character and your comments hold no value.
Mr Nemesis - I'll try to be respectful, and I haven't chimed in before on this topic. I'm older than you by a couple of years, and unfortunately, I think your memory is faulty. When we grew up in the 60's, it was true that pants weren't falling down, but women's butts and everything else was on display thanks to the mini skirts they wore. Apparently the free-love atmosphere didn't extend to your part of the world. I agree that the stuff you could view on TV was less sexually oriented, but we could watch bodies being blown up every night on the nightly news. Most TV shows showed people being killed for no reason except to increase ratings.
Abortion has alway been around; I guess you just didn't know about it. (I don't like it either, but not liking it didn't make it go away.) Connecting this with crime in schools is a long stretch. Children and others have always committed atrocities - look at some old school bombing pictures. Look at some of the civil rights violence. Look at the rioting in the streets.
People still say hello around here! Maybe you should move to a more friendly part of the country.
A safer time? At least now we know that our plane won't end up in Havana. I believe that certain areas of our country are indeed not safe today, but overall, I suspect things aren't much different than they've ever been. The carnage with guns is worse, because they are available in more deadly versions than in the past.
The good old days really weren't so good.
