Am I the only who is replacing Vegas for Florida lately?

I have been going to Vegas regularly for the past 10 years. Three years ago I started going on weeklong cruises out of Florida. I can replace Vegas gambling trips with other gambling locally. I can't replace the cruises. And right now I could give up the Vegas trips but I sure wouldn't want to give up my winter cruises to the caribbean each winter.
I never claimed that Chilcoot was correct or incorrect in his disagreement, I merely pointed out that his position did not strike me as closed-minded.
I've been going to Vegas 25-30 days a year for the last 18+ years...I go to Florida twice a year for 4 days at a time. The Indian casinos really suck for a VP player. The rental car rates are always higher than LV and we always pay more for hotels (Vegas is always free hotels and food). Direct flights to both on SWA and Florida is 1 to 2 hours shorter...but its not worth it in my book. Cruises really don't interest me, they are too confining (although one every other year seems to be the norm for us).
Enjoy Florida, Vegas is it for me.

1.Resort fees: He never address my claim that the Quad fee of $15 is higher the hotel rate itself during off peak dates. I also go on to name Las Vegas resorts that still offer value. This resort fee did not exist a few years ago and is a major new cost factor if your trying to stay on the Strip.

2.Chilcoot tells me I'm wrong on air fare but fails to back up his claim with any empirical evidence. He goes on to name Allegiant which has no Vegas service near me. The furthest East Allegiant Air serves is South Bend IN, Grand Rapids, MI or Peoria, IL. Again way too far to go to catch a plane. Spirit Airlines comes a little closer with Detroit MI and Latrobe/Pittsburgh but most people think a 4 hour drive each way is too far. Southwest is in the area and at times can be reasonable but no where near my point of $120 round trip.

3.Chilcoot claims I can't compare Florida cruise ships to Las Vegas and then goes on about a ski resort. Last time I checked cruise ships have casinos, rooms, and gourmet meals. But since Chilcoot says they are not comparable then he must be right. This is an excellent example of a closed mind that just wants to argue and not debate.

4. My thread is about comparing Florida to Las Vegas. I don't recall Boston, New York, Chicago, or Seattle being in Florida. Las Vegas taxes on rental cars are high when considering percentage of rental price. When your position is weak just change the subject.

5. OK

6.My point is for new sign ups which I have exhausted in Las Vegas. I also bought a slot play coupon $50 for $25 ($23.75 with discount) for my uncomparable Norwegian cruise ship. The ACG has lots of Florida coupons.
My tone reflects Chilcoot's tone. This was meant to be a light hearted discussion and not condescending (might as well compare Las Vegas to a Ski Resort).

Can you guys please take this crap to free for all where it belongs. Let's keep all the poison in one place - you all do a great job there.

I didn't realize a prerequisite for the paid forums was absolute agreement. Frankly, I found the Florida vs Vegas debate rather refreshing considering it's the only places I've been in the last 10 years. Also, I'm exhausted reading about buffets and resort fees.

It isn't. Sorry you are exhausted reading about buffets and resort fees - You are certainly not exhausted by posting about them - or anything else for that matter. 68 posts in almost 7 years? Most of us try to contribute - that's what a forum is.

Hey it woke everyone up.
It certainly did that Jokare!

Considering that I'm being chastised for either crapping on the forum or poisoning it, perhaps you should consider yourself fortunate that I don't post more often.
I go to Florida every year to visit the parents and get some beach time. I like both Florida and Vegas but for different reasons. Vegas is my adult playground, Florida is my R&R getaway.

The Hard Rock at Tampa is an amazing casino...its friggin huge! But its just not the same vibe as Vegas. All those giant poster of Janis Joplin and Bob Marley dont change the fact that your surrounded by 20 thousand octogenarians flushing away their kids inheritance =)
