another tipping question

I received a couple of the Gold, President, one dollar coins as change today and wondered to myself if I had a small handfull in my pocket while I was in vegas (in September) to use as a novelty tip if you will with drink waitresses, if it would get me anymore drinks? Then I wondered if they would confuse them with a quarters and get pissed at me?

Then I thought about handing them $2 bills (not 2 ones, a two dollar bill). Again, kind of a novelty tip if you will. This could possibly get mildly exspensive over a week in Vegas, but if it payed dividends it might be worth it!

Do you think either idea would be appriciated more and possibly get me a little more consistant flow?

or should I just say screw it, theres a recession on, put up with the spotty service and keep flipping them a $1 chip like I have been doing since 1991?

When i start playing at a particulr for the week,i know which CW is serving my table after a couple days,or just watch who's working that part, and tip them a 5 or whatever and say,i'll be over at X table, could you bring me a bud light please and keep 'em coming. That always worked great for me and it doesn't hurt i have a pretty socialable personality. I always got fed whatevr i wanted,i've evn had them get me smokes before.
I don't really gamble at the big casinos and no idea what to do there. Only large place ever played BJ at was luxor and drink service sucked.

PS,this trip is going to be completely different tho. I'm on dialysis now and cant drink much, bummer.
I think waitresses are more annoyed than appreciative from anything out of the normal. Anything other than a single (or fiver) bill or a casino chip (which they cash out at shift's end) will be suspicious to them. Save your bucks.

I get outstanding cocktail service when I tip $5 or $10 for the first round (no more than 2-3 people). Even though I regress to the standard $1 per drink after that first round, they keep bringing them quickly. Sometimes before I even ask!

I love the brand new -- and I mean fresh from the mint -- dollar coins and started a couple of trips ago taking at least $100 in new coins with me as well as $100 brand new singles. I just love the idea of tipping with new money, not sure why.

Anyway, when I was in Vegas the last time a couple of times I told the CW "these are dollar coins" and each time the CW knew they were and in at least 2-3 instances they loved the fact that the dollar coins were brand new as they collected them for themselves or for their kids.

I say do what works for you. Anyone working in Vegas definitely knows money -- whether coinage or bills -- when they see it and my guess is they would be appreciative of a good tip in whatever form -- bills or coinage -- it comes.
I've been using $2 bills for tips for years and they always get me better service from the cocktail gals.
Also received numerous comments from buffet drink servers who like them.
Coins are two heavy to carry around (I've got enought junk in my pockets).
If I know I'll be playing the same machine for a couple of hours, I always give them $5.00 and tell them to keep them coming. They'll bring me drinks even before I ask after that.
We always use $2 bills to tip ...the servers often comment that they "love them" ....and they keep the drinks coming.....
A friend of mine has purchased $2 bills from the bank prior to LV trips for a long time. Having worked tipped positions in the past, I never worried about the difference between a 1 or 2 dollar bill. As for the gold coins, I doubt many servers would care for them as they take up more room than bills.

Good Luck!

I personally think that it depends more upon the casino than the novelty of the tip. If a casino has a lot of waitresses, they'll come around often. If not, they won't. When they come around and shout, "Cocktails", its not like they take an order of the guy who gave them $5 last time and ignore everyone else at the table. They take an order from the whole table. Even those that stiff them seem to get equal turns. I offer $1/drink each time and it has suited me fine.

As for slots, it may pay more if you hang at a slot for a long time. I think most people float between machines so they may not see the same girl in the same area that often.

Just my thoughts...
