billryan answered your question with his post right after your first post.
Hard sell, promise the moon, but deliver what they promise.
Which means that you'll get the chips, if that is what the person on the phone said.

You said you'd rather get show tickets.
Nobody knows, from one to the other, which prizes they will give out.
You have to listen to the hawker's pitch to know chips or tickets, etc.

So, while in Vegas, listen to every hawker's pitch (they usually look for couples).

If one promises show tickets, there you go.

I must be dull, I never understood how paying so much for the right to a week in a hotel was somehow worth more than the cost of a week in a hotel.

First off, you cant really compare staying in a timeshare to a hotel room.
You have a full kitchen, dining area so you can save quite a bit on food. Even if it just breakfast and a couple of lunches, that adds up pretty quickly. You have a separate living room, and either one or two bedrooms. You almost always get a Jacuzzi in your suite, and quite often a patio.
If done right, it can be much cheaper than a hotel room. I pay about $80 a month, or just under $1,000 a year.
For that I can stay three weeks at great resorts. A similar resort would easily run $1,000 a week.

My father will sit in a room for 8 hours if there's a free sandwich involved. He and my mother went to countless presentations over the years and got free show tickets, meals, small appliances, etc, etc, etc. cracked me up.

I work for RCI so i stay at the timeshare resorts free. Its a nice perk that comes with the job. And as soon as i let the onsite saleperson know that they magically disappear.

I doubt id by a timeshare in Vegas (if anywhere). Most timeshare properties in Vegas will sell rooms just like Hotels - you can book them on Expedia. i guarantee you in the long run that will be cheaper than buying directly from the big sellers and paying annual dues. Maybe....maybe...if you buy a resale timeshare dirt cheap from someone desperate to unload theirs you can save money....but not much. Thats the only scenario to consider buying

Your note reminded me of a story about my father. He was a cigar chomping salesman with a great sense of humor. My parents and another couple (they didn't have much money) endured a sales presentation for free hotel rooms in Florida. He spent the 90 minutes describing all the kids he had, all their needs and problems and various home repairs he could forgo to afford this once in a lifetime opportunity. The other couple (their best friends) would retell the story with tears in their eyes. He sure was a good guy.
good one!

You can buy timeshares on eBay for $1 that would cost twenty thousand at a presentation. As I said I pay $80 a month for what works out to three weeks. I also just booked an extra vacation for $217 for a week at Grandview for my nephew and his fiancee. I do need to be there to sign for the suite.
I have a feeling I will come out of this Pissed Off, not sure why I am doing this but the 200 in play sounds good.
Hilton Grand Vacations is my recommendation. Go listen to presentation and they give you show tickets. Don't have to buy. My wife an I usually go and listen for free food or show tickets.
