Bar drinks at casino while playing VP?

I wasn't sure which Forum was correct since it involves several topics. I've always played VP in the slots area and gotten my drinks from the cocktail servers. Service from them is variable and often slow. Recently I have seen posts that indicate you can get "free" drinks by playing VP at the casino bars. Is that for real? Can I get cocktails as well as well drinks? I assume that a $1 per drink tip is still expected. Seems to be a better way to drink and play. Any experiences would be appreciated.
If you want decent drink service you need to sit at the bar. Not all bars are created equal so you may want to check out the paytables on vp and there are stories of drinks not being free at some of the high end casinos.
Many casinos have lesser pay schedules on the bartop VP....so the trick is to find the casino bars with good schedules. My favorites:

1) The Vue Bar at The D. Its the bar on the 2nd floor. 8/5 Bonus Poker + Progressive. Might be the best bartop VP in the city. Drinks come fast but its low level well-liquor.
2) El Cortez bartop. Plenty of full pay VP. Drink service is fantastic and they have premium beers on tap: Guiness, Harp,...
3) Bartop at Chicago Pizza place in 4-Queens. 8/5 Bonus Poker and includes craft beers on tap.
4) Tuscany bartop. 7/5 BP + progressive. Doesnt sound great but go on a day with their point multipliers: Sometimes as high as 10X slots/7X VP. Those comps add up quick and they have several good restaurants to spend them at.
5) Boulder Station Casino bars. 7/5 BP + progressive. I like this place on NFL Sundays because of all the TV's. VP Schedules are just ok but there's plenty of seats, good beers on tap, and lots of big screen TV's to watch the games.

Good to know which casinos offer good VP and free drinks. The casinos mentioned are my kind of places when I visit. Thanks.

main street station boars-head bar is my favorite-----they have 9/6 job 25c and up with a scratch card [usually 2$ but top card is $5,000] for 4oaks and st flushes------micro-brewery drafts and other drinks comped while you play, usually leave a $1 tip per drink----they have 4 or 5 big screen TV's with the sports channels tuned in----
VP at the bars has hands down best bar service.
However, some bars only have higher limit machines and/or the bartenders make sure you are playing max credit for free drinks.
Slow play can work but some bartenders are just sticks in the mud and so they stand and watch you play max credit for a while before serving you.
Those places tend to be at the higher end places and usually aren't much fun to be at anyway...
As pjstroh said, lesser pay schedules are usually the payoff for good bar service.
However, if you tip well (not necessarily like a drunken sailor...) and you find a good bartender, at a decent machine, you can sit, play, and drink until you need an electric scooter to get back to your room!!!

The MSS Scratch Card is also good for hitting the Royal Flush.
