Bellagio to Ellis Island

You are good to go...enjoy the fountains and head over toward Bally's walk over to EI and you are fine to come back whenever you want I do the walk all the time.
I see no problem walking from Bellagio to Ellis Island. Marko made a great suggestion. Stop by the Stage Door on your way to EI. It is a great place to have a drink or two with the locals. When I lived in Vegas (worked at Ballys/Paris) I would often stop at either Ellis Island or the Stage Door for a beer after work. Cheap drinks, laid-back atmosphere, and interesting conversation!

Enjoy the Bellagio fountains, have some drinks at Stage Door and Ellis Island, and get a cab back to the Venetian. Enjoy your visit!

Unfortunately, the walk to Ellis Island probably won't be enjoyable or scenic. I would actually plan to go to Ellis Island some other time. I just had their pancake special for breakfast a bit more than a week ago, and it was quite good.

Since you are interested in the fountains, what I would do is exit Bellagio out the main entrance. The bell desk will be on your right. Continue past the bell desk, continuing to your right, and you will find an escalator up to the moving walkways. Go up and take the moving walkways to the strip. You can stop between the moving walkways, and also at their end, to enjoy the fountains.

You then take an escalator down to the strip, and head directly north on the strip, in front of the fountains, and view the fountains from that sidewalk. Unfortunately, that is a popular stroll and you may be heckled by street preacher types who know there will be people there that they can heckle.

After progressing north to Flamingo Blvd., you can cross over to Bally's on the pedestrian bridge. Then you can continue by walking through Bally's, down to the Bally's sportsbook, and exit onto Flamingo there. If you'd rather not walk through Bally's, you can take the other pedestrian bridge over to Bill's and then walk east on Flamingo, past the Westin, and then south on Koval.

I find walking through Bally's, or walking along the north side of Flamingo (from Bill's) to be much more enjoyable than walking along the south side of Flamingo from the pedestrian bridges.
I agree with Chadley and Marko about the stage door. Very fun low-rent vibe. They ask for your ID because it deters the pimps and hookers.

One of the best times I ever had in vegas was at Stage door.

It was Cinco De Mayo, over the weekend. I was eating Mexican food every night during my trip. All the usual places had all their usual promos. Stage door was selling margaritas, in a cuervo glass you got to keep, for $2 per. Think I had about 6 of them hahaha. Locals who worked at the IP were there, we had some fun going back and forth. still have those glasses too!
I have done this walk with my wife late at night also. No problem IMHO.

Made this walk over the weekend. It was hot and not very senic, but I had no problems.
I stopped at both The Tuscany and Westin Causarina for a drink and to play, but as always the highlight was checking in at the Stage Door Casino (right behind Bills) for a drink. Cheap drinks and everybody is having a great time.

Westin and Stage Door on the way! Tuscany...NOT!

I mentioned this in my most recent trip report (located on the Downtown thread) that I just cant figure out Tuscany. Ive been a few times and its never really crowded, I've never won and the dealers/staff all seem annoyed that I want to play some cards.. That place is a mystery to me..

Westin however, is a great place. I wouldnt mind staying there one day..

marko..
Glad i saw this thread. We have never been to Ellis and wasnt sure if it was walkable. We will have to check it out (breakfast maybe) while we are staying at the flamingo.
