Best Downtown Self-Park Options?

Just curious what the downtown self-park situation is like nowadays? I've usually parked at El Cortez and walked down, but plan to make a trip at some point just to play at 4 Queens for a chunk of time w/ACG's 2x points--seem to recall reading somewhere that it's now a little more complicated to park there.
I almost always park at the Fremont valet, whether I am staying there or not. I have used them for years and never a problem. I used to give them a dollar but now give them $2. Call me cheap or frugal, either way the valet guys seem to be fine with $2. -OR- you can park at the Main Street Station garage (on the north side of the casino) for free. Somewhat of a walk to Fremont street but the price is right.
Most self-parking in the hotels directly on Fremont St now charge...sometime not durting slower times of the year. Main Street Station is free but thats almost as far a walk as El Cortez.

California has free valet parking (but you should really tip the valet -which then will cost you about as much as self parking).
Main Street Station might be almost as long a walk as El Cortez but you don't have to walk the gauntlet of beggars and thieves if you park at the Main Street Station - especially at night.

We usually just valet at Golden Nugget and then spend time at all the casinos; it's nicely situated in the middle of Fremont Street :-)

We were there earlier this month and parked at Golden Nugget and at Four Queens. One of them (GN maybe??) gave you 3 hrs. of free parking then charged after that w/a validated ticket (do yourself at the cashier, stick your ticket in to get stamped). So you don't even have to prove you spent any money there. They are both in the middle of everything on Fremont St. so you can't go wrong w/either. Choose either and I don't think it will cost you anything or much w/a validated ticket.
Fremont Valet is great...we park there alot when staying at the Nugget. They're fast and friendly...the nugget can be quite slow some days. We stay at The fitz for tourneys...I don't mind the parkade some people hate it. They give you 4 free hours as non-guest although the pay booth is unmaned alot.
I had two 21-year-olds hungry for a burger and a microbrew at the 777 so we parked in the Main Street Station garage in April. ... Just a word of warning, at least on a Saturday night, they required a players card to access the garage. I didn't have one on me, but it took a couple of minutes of negotiations before the attendant let me park.
I usually park at the Golden Gate valet; drive north on Main St and turn into the GG surface lot behind their casino. Attendants are happy with a $3 tip and it's an easy walk thru the casino to get to the Fremont Experience canopy. I've never had to wait more than 2 minutes to get my car and then head back towards the strip using Main St. Amazing how many Bail Bond business are on Main St !

My favorites are the Bail Bond and 24-hour Internet cafe locations - I guess in case you need to IM whoever is going to ultimately pay your bail. Name another city where you'll find that combination!
