Best place to rent a car?

Another thing to keep in mind is the rental company policy on additional drivers. Some do not charge if the 2nd person is a spouse. Some companies that had that policy have changed their policy and charge for the spouse or any other 2nd driver. So who or how many will be driving the rental car could play into the bottom dollar on your bill. We've been using Budget because they don't charge for the spouse. The last time I booked online w/them it automatically added the spouse as a 2nd driver charge. But it was taken off when we arrived to pick up the car. I always call the local ph # if I have any questions. I keep notes of the conversation, take note of the name, date & time I talked to them just in case.

The question is not what rental company, but if there is an advantage to renting a car other than at the airport location. My only experience was renting a car for a day. I do not know why, but pick up at the hotel location was more expensive than at the airport. For convenience, I did pick it up at the hotel and paid that extra cost.

I do not know if there is an advantage/disadvantage for an extended rental.

When I've checked the rates, they have always been higher away from the airport location.
