Black Canyon River Adventures

We are bringing non-gamblers out this year. Received a coupon for Black Canyon River Adventures - river rafting at the Hoover Dam. Has anyone done this? Any other suggestions would be great.
Oops. Should have read further down this thread....Thanks

At the Hacienda Casino which is the same place your going on the rafting tour, they have Helicopter tours of the Hoover dam, The new bridge, and lake mead for $59. its a short 10 minute ride, but very exciting. My wife hasnt stopped talking about it since she went on it.

They have loneger, and shorter rides for differant amonts of money

I won $120 in the Hacienda and bought 2 tickets for the wife & I, which is really cool too!

The river raft tour from Hoover down Black Canyon is wonderful.
Motorized raft and a guide who points out sights of interest, history, etc.
Pulls over for a boxed lunch mid way.
Wear sunscreen; expect to get your feet wet.

I did the river raft float tour, too. I'm glad I did it, but don't have to do it more than once.
They provide plenty of water for you to drink so you stay hydrated, and even though you drink a lot you really don't feel the need to have to go to the bathroom, which was a relief for all of us on the boat. It lasts something like 4 hours, so it's amazing you don't "feel the need." You end up at a marina, and when you get off the boat you will need the facilities. The lunch was fine, and you get to keep the soft cooler it comes in.
I agree with Candy...definitely wear sunscreen. There were people on our boat that didn't put any on even after we offered to let them use ours, and they had bad sunburns when they were done. Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't get sick that night from the bad sunburns.
Definitely wear a hat and bring a camera. Lots of photo opportunities.
And your feet will get wet...boat shoes would have been a good investment.
And yes, the ride in the bus to the base of the Hoover Dam is definitely an experience in itself!
If you're driving to the Hacienda yourself, give yourself plenty of time to get there. I guess there are bad backups when you get close to Boulder City because the transportation "experts" didn't realize that shoving two lanes of traffic into one lane and adding semis would cause traffic nightmares. Duh!
Another activity you could do is flightlining. (bcflightlines.com). It's like ziplining, but I think it seems safer because you're hanging from four pulleys instead of one.
I did it last year..it's SO much fun! You really feel like you're flying.

A couple of years ago I also took a hot air balloon ride. Very cool.

Or you could do a bus tour of Red Rock Canyon. A little hiking is involved, but nothing strenuous.

Also, regarding the river raft float tour: I can't swim, and I wore a life jacket the first half of the trip. But when I discovered how calm the water was I took it off and felt completely safe. So if you have someone who can't swim, they don't have to worry.
We've never done it but my brother & his wife told us about a dinner cruise I believe that is in the area of the Hoover Dam. They said they really enjoyed it.
