We always used to plan which casinos to visit based on which food deals we had for the day or the week. Now we make a plan to leave the casinos so we can get to our meal destinations. Hopefully things will change.

It seems like some of the buffets that re-opened are no longer loss leaders. They are for profit. I watched youtube videos of the Main Street Station buffet and the Luxor buffet. Luxor is like $29.99 and just awful. They apparently realized they couldnt remodel it cost effective so people want buffets so just reopen and charge a high price for bad food. Main Street Station .... I genuinely love that place used to get comp room there for play on .25 full pay deuces wild video poker. The brewpub has good food good price. The buffet used to be awesome. Watched a recent review and the buffet is instead of like $14.99 for dinner its $29.99 for dinner and some of the higher end stuff has been removed. Its a damn shame.

Right now, there seem to be only two buffets in town that haven't ramped up their prices while scaling back the quality--South Point and Rampart.
I only include Rampart because they have frequent discounts and an LVA coupon. Their prices are fairly high for what you get--the quality has declined from a few years ago--but sadly, $29.99 for (regular) dinner places them at the LOW end of the current Vegas buffet price scale. Boooooo.
Many better deal buffet only
breakfast lunch Too bad
At some point the economic cycle will turn around and Vegas will get hit hard - just like always. Then the casinos will have to start fighting each other to get market share of customers. And Buffets will come back.
Right now we are rewarding Vegas for bad behavior by spending our money in an environment that has cut back its friendlyness towards us on several fronts. Makes me not want to go back until things change. ANd they will

I doubt that very much. They've seen how willing the idiots are to pay sky-high prices for a shit experience. If demand falls off, they'll convince themselves that it's temporary.

I agree with Kevin. I don't see it happening.
Sometimes when I'm not playing poker, vp, eating or just drinking I do find myself walking around and watching especially the tables. My God, are some of these players complete morons! And I don't see many empty tables at the places I'm going to. I even watch a for a few minutes to see how many basic BJ mistakes I can see. It doesn't take long to see tons.
VP not much better. Not even sure why so many of the casinos worry about the close to 100% games. There are so many people just playing pure awful.
I have to agree with Kevin and Jerry Ice. When the recession hit in 2008, I was salivating expecting some great promos from the casinos. Never happened.
Don't see anything changing.
I guess we'll see. At some point the proprietors of Silverton are going to have to look at South Point and ask themselves why their crowds aren't nearly as big. Maybe they dont have to ask that tough question in the current environment. but they will when things turn south. I dont know how they will address it - but they will have to address it.

Since the Silverton downgraded their slot club and video poker offerings pre pandemic, what are they going to address at this late date? VPfree2 only shows a few quarter video poker games. They decided long ago not to compete with Southpoint. If their buffet does reopen, I don't see it as a loss leader.
