Christmas visit?

I am coming out Christmas morning and staying until Wednesday.
Where should I eat, and what holiday-centric activities are a must?
Are the casinos decorated for the holidays?
Thank you!!
Welcome to the boards!

Tell us where you are staying and whether you will have a car to help you with restaurants etc.
The town will mostly be dead, I'm sure you got great rates or comps. The Christmas activities will be over but decorations will still be up, the best will be at Bellagio Conservatory.

The shows will be dark (everyone off) and the best employees will be also be off. On the other hand there will be no wait for dining or gambling. The town will not get busy until Friday before New-Years.

It would be a great time to explore Vegas or relaxing but if you seek action you may have to wait to your next trip. One other idea, there is already snow on Mt Charleston and the ski runs opened today. It is beautiful up there.

Good Luck and Have Fun!

Welcome to the boards!
Be sure to visit the conservatory at Bellagio.

Ever since someone told me Mt Charleston has the best hot coco, I've wanted to visit during the winter. Last December I planned a day trip to Mt Charleston. Thanks to the pineapple express, it was closed, too much snow and down power lines.
Will you have a car? How many times have you been to Las Vegas? Will you be staying on the Strip, Downtown or Other location?

Another vote for the Bellagio Conservatory.
I will be staying on the strip. I will not have a car, but I could get one if need be.
How disappointing to see the shows will be dark! We thought we were going to be decadent and spend Christmas week in Las Vegas. I really wanted to see the Price is Right and the neon graveyard : (

I have the Bellagio on my list! I haven't been there and I haven't been to Vegas for a leisure trip in several years. What should we do for Christmas dinner? Will a buffet be open?
I have been out over Christmas many times and all properties usually have some holiday decorations up. As far as buffets go, many places on the strip should have a Christmas Holiday buffet similar to a Thanksgiving Day buffet which I have had both. I usually pick up a newspaper anyways and alot of these are listed with menu's and prices.
In my experience, Bellagio buffet and restaurant lines are long on Christmas Day.
Christmas is on Sunday this year, thus bigger crowds.

Folks will flock to Bellagio and other better known Strip buffets even if they aren't staying at the particular hotel.

I think you will find some shows running.

Have a great time!

I haven't been in a while, but I used to celebrate with the family Xmas eve afternoon and fly into LV that evening. It's not as crowded, although it didn't seem that different in the locals casinos. The strip is relatively quiet though. Though most shows will be dark, you'll still find some entertainment as you move down the food chain. If decorations are your thing, you'll be in hog heaven. In addition to the strip, make it out to Sam's Town as they do a good job decorating the atrium.

One opf my best Xmas memories is of one year that I dropped my buddy off at the golf club he works for. The club is closed, but he vollenteers for any club members that want to play or bring guests for free. I came back a few hours later and he said it was busier than he thought it would be, so he'd be another couple of hours. He suggested I jump out for nine in a bit, so I did. Here's a Seattle boy, wearing shorts and a polo, playing golf Xmas afternoon. It was wonderful. I cut mine nine short though when the sun went behind the mountains (the butts up against Red Rock) and the temp dropped from about 60 to the high 40s in no time! I traded the golf cart for a real one with a heater in no time! When we got back to the house, it was cocktails on the patio before grilling some huge ribeyes for dinner. Not your typical Xmas afternoon/dinner in Seattle!

Good Luck!
