City council voting on controlling LV Strip vendors

At last! Maybe something will get done. A person here or there is one thing but now it seems so out of hand. Obviously there's a very fine line between the right to free speech and being a pest.
All the beggars/panhandlers either don't care or don't understand that not every person walking past them has an unlimited budget and can just toss a $1 or two their way.
However this works out, it's a sure bet you won't see any of the vendors, beggars or porn slappers on any of those TV ads from the LV Office of Tourism.

Las Vegas needs to get rid of these bums- I don't go to Vegas to be bothered by these cretins. I will not visit the strip again til something positive is done to curb their unwanted presence. Their presence has nothing to do with free speech - they are freeloaders who add nothing of value to any Vegas visitors experience.
Its very odd Disney does not go after the "drunk Mickeys" and such. If a day care paints a character on a wall and hell breaks loose. If no one paid them they would go away!!!!!!!!
Something here doesn't compute. The City Council has no authority on the Strip (Clark County). I'll be long gone from this world before anyone does anything about these guys/girls. The trend has been in the wrong direction for some time now.

I hate to say it, but I thought they were kind of fun. There were 2 showgirls doing a great photo-op business. They stood way off to the side, not in anybody's way. A Storm Trooper was thrilling young boys and old boys. That kid will remember that light-sabre wielding picture with the Storm Trooper for the rest of his life.

And I always enjoy seeing Woody's smile - even though he may be frowning inside. There was a lonely gladiator that no one seemed to be interested in.

I didn't think they were crowding us or pushy at all. And they are a lot cuter than porn slappers, who are mostly gone since Harrah's put up the walkway.

Looks like the porn slappers could be hit with a fine for all the cards tossed on the street a few steps pass them. Maybe a Illegal Alien background check before issuing a "slappers license" would cut way down on number of slappers on the strip
This is a shame. I grew fond of poor drunk Minnie Mouse trolling for rehab money by CR. Those poor classic toons are being crushed by Sponge Bob and his ilk and need a way to make a buck.
" The ordinance is not expected to affect those who pass flyers advertising adult entertainment, nor the costumed characters who pose for photos with tourists. " according the LVA.

So what the hell is it good for? Feels like a bill congress would pass. Sounds good but does nothing to improve the hell that parts of the strip have become.

People selling goods will be subject to a misdemeanor. Think of the water sellers.

I understand it'll hit the costumed people too if they solicit money for a photo, but not if they simply accept money for a photo. Pretty tough line to enforce if you ask me, but apparently that's what the constitution requires.

Homeless panhandlers often respect that line too, that's why their signs often don't beg directly for money, but say things like "Homeless veteran, god bless" in hopes of prompting some cash.
No more ice cold bottles of water being sold on the overpasses. Those guys were the only vendors I can think of. Do hookers count as vendors?
