Closed for New Years...

In preparation for the New Year's Eve festivities, many highway
entrances & exits to Las Vegas Boulevard will be closing at 5pm.
You will need your player club card or room key to enter properties and
Security WILL BE LARGE.
Greg, are you saying that if one is walking the Strip (or off Strip for that matter), and decides to enter say the Palms or Wynn,
one will either need a Players Card or Room key to be able to enter those or other properties ?

Thanks, Rick
Just BE where you want to be Parked, before 5 pm. Otherwise plan on walking. Thats the easiest.

I tried to enter Wynn a year ago, and because I was staying there they let me drive in Valet.
I flashed a Room key & he let me drive in.
Otherwise it was roped off, and not letting anyone in. It was a pain in butt. Traffic was horrible.
I'm sure Taxis will just take the backroads behind the strip props., but will be Lots of congestion.

For what it's worth, I called LVPD the other day and they told me the order is to start shutting down the Strip at 6:00.

Rick,

You wouldn't need a players' card or room key to enter the off-Strip properties on NYE. Just the properties along the section of The Strip that gets shut down for the NYE celebration (Spring Mountain to Russel?). Not all the casinos will have this policy, and I think most play it by ear depending on the rowdiness of the crowd.

Just shows you how rowdy it can get down there if the casinos think they are better off closing the doors than letting the partiers come inside.
I have to ask how does one get back on the monorail then if you cannot access the casinos? For future referance?
I bet if you ask nice and maybe flash a monorail ticket they would let you in.

In my limited experience with the closed casino doors, they really do this to give them the option of keeping out whomever they don't want to let in. As an individual, you can usually talk your way in if you give them a good reason and look respectible. If you are in a group that looks like a street gang, you might have more difficulty getting inside.

In any case, if you are in a Strip casino on New Year's Eve, talk to a casino or hotel employee about how to get back in before you leave.

Edited to add: And get a players card before you leave so you can at least claim to be a good customer worthy of entry.
