Cold Experiences In Las Vegas

I remember being in LV a couple of times when it was cold for it including one time the Fountain that was in front of Tropicana was frozen solid with the water that was in mid-air (that was definitely weird for me to see).

Plus another time when I was driving to meet a friend and I heard on the radio that with the Wind Chill Factor, it felt like 13 Degrees!

Early March (forget what year), cold snap.
Wind and rain on arrival to McCarran, temp probably in the low 30s.

We had a Hot Air Balloon Ride scheduled for the next day.
The "Captain" called our hotel room early in the AM to say the wind was up too much, had to cancel.

Never did re-book that ride.
We were at a tennis tournament in Las Vegas in late February/early March several years ago. It was outside. We sat outside in the cold, wind and also snow!! That was a COLD trip!! It was painful standing outside waiting for valets! We live in northern Wisconsin, so we're definitely used to the cold but that was one of the coldest I've ever experienced!!
One chilly December about 10 years ago we were staying at Green Valley Ranch Casino. I woke up around dawn and thought things seemed eerily quiet and grey outside. I peeked through the curtains and saw that everything was white because it had snowed a couple of inches overnight. So of course the thing to do was to get dressed quickly, go out to the pool/lawn area, and make snow angels. All the snow melted later by the afternoon, but the sight of snow in Las Vegas was something I'll never forget.

(Yes, I know nitpickers will tell me that it was actually Henderson, but that's not the point.)

I was in Las Vegas in December of 2008 and it snowed the day before I left. People dressed as if it were 20 below zero. I had on a sweatshirt as the temp was about 30 degrees. Absolutely comical seeing all the warm weather locals and visitors in mass panic because of a two inch snow. My flight was at 6am so I got out on time the next day.
Was in Vegas several years ago during NASCAR weekend. The day of the race there were snow flurries and a brisk wind. I did not attend the race, but I talked to several people that did. They told me that the line for hot coffee and hot chocolate was longer than the line for beer. They also related that the hot air blowers for drying your hands in the men's bathroom were very popular.
being from New Hampshire the cold in Las Vegas was no particularly impressive but the drop from day to night was incredible! I took a day trip to Fire valley once with my wife and spent the day taking pictures in high 60 low 70 degree weather. On the way home, day went to night and somewhere along they way (in the desert) I stopped to go pee, when I got out of the car I could NOT believe the temperature drop! it went from say 68/70 degrees to 35 degrees in an hour! WOW!

According to Cousin Eddie... " where else can you wear shorts 365 days a year"?
December 2013 it was perhaps 35 - 40 degrees but with a wicked blowing wind that made it feel like 20.
I am a Bostonian but was not prepared for that weather in Las Vegas
People think because it's desert it's warm all the time. Desert cold is very different then Midwestern cold. Plus like said above it can be in the 60's and an hour later in the teens. Happens all the time.
