Coming back after 3 1/2 years!

So excited!  Just booked 3 Vegas trips from Victoria, B.C. Canada.

October, next February and April 2024.  Direct flights are starting up again!

It's been a long time. Can't wait!

You'll have fun. Though there might be quite a few, um...surprises.

Bring money. Lots and lots of money.

Have a nice time!  enjoy the weather which will nicer than Canada, the food and the shows!

In spite of what kevin says there are bargains.  Try Southpoint, good gambling, food & shows.

Thanks!

Sad to see that a lot of the buffets are gone, and as Kevin says, I will have to bring more money. Everything is so expensive now.

On top of that, the Canadian dollar is so much lower than the U.S. and I have no free rooms anymore.  Have to start all over!

I missed Vegas a lot.  It will be good to come back. Get out of the freezing weather in February!!

Tom mentions South Point, which is a very good place to visit, gamble, and eat, but there are some problems. First, their rooms aren't all that cheap. and they charge a resort fee. Second, they're isolated---you'll need some kind of transportation to get anywhere else, and there isn't that much of it. Thus, you would need to either rent a car or commit to spending your whole vacation there (there is a Strip bus, but it takes forever). Third, for multiple trips, you'd like your play rewarded with discounts/freebies...and many members here have noted a true lack of consistency on comps.

Here's what I recommend. Stay downtown at the Four Queens. Near several casinos, and the 4Q itself has good restaurants and decent gambling. AND...no resort fee! But aside from anything else, their prices are low, and they have a senior discount. Their across-the-street "sister" property, the Apache, is priced even lower, though those rooms are smaller.

The big deal, for me at least is, with quite modest gambling (several hours of .25 video poker), I've continually received 2-3 free nights every month +$40 free play. I haven't visited Vegas for several months, but the offers keep coming. So I would recommend staying there, putting in some solid play, and waiting for the offers. You can also contact a host after your first trip and ask about upfront offers for your return trip(s).

There used to be some casinos in Vegas that gave Canadian visitors a bonus when buying chips with Canadian currency. The best offer I saw was redemption at par! Downtown Grand, I think. You might check room prices at that casino using the LVA coupon, which is killer. You might be able to find some deals for Canadians---some casinos target them.

And enjoy the freak show on Fremont street.......

Thanks, Kevin, for the great advice. I really appreciate it!!

As a matter of fact, after checking out the hotel situation, I booked the Four Queens/Apache for all 3 trips.

Reasonable rates, and no resort fee. I like the Downtown and there are good LVA coupons for dining and slot play.  As a senior, I appreciate any discounts. There is one for Binions, Apache too.

Will take the Centennial Express bus from the airport.  It's $2.00, and goes Downtown. Stops beside Binions.

I used to get a senior's card at the bus depot and then it was only $1.00 a trip. Only runs every 50 minutes, but I will download the schedule. I can take it to the North Outlet Mall and Flamingo Rd. if I want to go to the Strip.

Will check out Downtown Grand. Thanks for the tip!!  Any currency exchange advantage would be most welcome.

Hoping I can get some rewards starting after my trip next month. Very disappointed with the Boyd properties. I used to get free rooms all the time, with all their properties. Won't even visit them now. Travelled to Vegas 4 to 5 times a year, but sadly that ended January 2020. It's time to have some fun again!

Nice to be back on the Forum, too.  Missed you all!!!

Thanks Jerry!  Great advice.  I sure need it.

The downside to the 4Q is the late night noise from Fremont St.

The TI seems like they are giving out rooms.

If you get the MGM credit card you get upgraded to Pearl, a large credit to use at the hotels & random free rooms.

We used the credits to stay at the Luxor in the nicer tower rooms

You are right!  It is very loud until 2:00 a.m. on Fremont.  Better pack my earplugs!!!

Will check out TI.  Haven't stayed there for years. Back when it was kid friendly!!
