Construction on the strip?

The missus and i will be spending four nights at the El Cortez this June 3-7at their Cabana Suites. This will be our first trip in 3-4 years and it seems every time we are there some major cconstruction is in progress. City Center and all the rest were really kicking up some serious dust the last time.

From what i've been reading it seems that nothing much is going on at present. Is that correct? While we will be spending most of our time and gambling funds downtown there will, of course, be the obligitory strip trips for fountain viewing and special meals. Dust free walking would be nice for a change.

So. Any thing a-building out there folks?
Nothing out there that creates any dust. They're doing renovations on two properties - Venetian and MGM Grand, so the right lane of Tropicana as you turn onto Las Vegas Blvd. is closed off causing a delay traffic wise since there is temporary no longer a right turn only lane. There is scaffolding up in front of the Venetian. Also they are still working on the new mall adjacent to Planet Hollywood, so the right lane on Harmon as you approach Las Vegas Blvd is closed (as it has been for over a year now). But none of these projects are in a dust producing stage.

Enjoy your trip.

Aahhh. I can taste the fresh air and feel the sunshine already!

Thanks Larry.
Is Caesars Linq project a problem at all?

"Is Caesars Linq project a problem at all?"

It is if you use those back streets behind Harrah's and Flamingo to get around. They are all closed due to the construction. They were very useful for getting in and out of Imperial Palace, Harrah's, Flamingo and Venetian and also had a shortcut (the east/west street adjacent to O'Shea's) to get across LV Blvd and into Caesars when there was a lot of strip congestion. Now instead of being a way of avoiding traffic, that area creates traffic.

If you are staying down town, use the coupon for the Flame restrurant at the El Cortez. Ask for Linda for your waitress. She lets you use two coupons. We had Steak and Crab and she took over 50 off our bill to cut it in half. Over a 100 bill was 50. And the Filet and Crab was excellent and Linda awesome.
We plan to. We have a super suite at the Cabana's. That will be dinner the first nite.
Will be staying at Flamingo a couple of days in July and will have a car. Where is the construction and does it affect getting in/out of their parking garage?

Is Koval still open, plus the road leading to Harrah's Valet? Is the exit from Harrah's valet changed? (We would be going from Harrah's valet to Flamingo Rd.)?

Thanks,

- bcc

You can still get to the Flamingo garage either by the Las Vegas Blvd entrance or by using Flamingo to Audrey and then a left past Bastistas. With the other streets closed, it just makes it more congested back there. Koval is still open and the entrance rear entrance road to Harrah's/Venitian is open but the other side streets (Winnick and Ida) are closed up.
