Day Trip Ideas

There is a old small mining ghost town out near the Colorado river called Nelson Nevada. It is privately owned and set up for tourist. IT is pretty cool and several movies have been filmed there including 3000 miles to Graceland. I think it is about a 45 minute drive if I remember correctly. I cool side trip.
We also have been to Las Vegas over 25 times and I always look for something different to do.
Have you tried the Mystery Adventure, where you try to solve the mystery like a detective? We spent at least half a day at the Atomic Testing Museum where they have actual film strips of the tests they ran in the desert. Scoot City is a real blast where you drive your own "2 man scooter" in Red Rock Canyon. We have taken the dinner cruise on Lake Mead, that is really a different look at Hoover Dam. Don't bother with Bonnie Springs, as it is really a dump. Someone suggested Mt. Charleston, and that is such a contrast to Las Vegas, it's cool. Valley of Fire is way better than Red Rock, in my opinion. If you haven't previewed a yet to be released TV show, go to the CBS testing exhibit in the MGM and sign up. It is pretty cool to be able to give your opinion on a new show and it is free. Only takes an hour or two.
The pinball museum/hall of fame is fun, especially if you played them as a kid. If you are a gun fan, go to the Gun Store and shoot your favorite weapon.

These are just a few of the less obvious thnigs to do. Hope you find something new to do this time around.
There are several really nice day trips we have taken while on vacation in Vegas. Mesquite is a nice place and it is right on the way to St. George. The drive is spectacular getting to St. George from Mesquite. There are a few casinos you can stop in Mesquite. The boothling at one of the casinos told me if you like golf and gamling Mesquite is the place to be.

Pharump is about a 45 minute drive and we had no idea it was that big of a community. There are also a few casinos to stop and take a break. We saw wild burros along the road on the way, we got a bonus since we had went thru Red Rock and and had seen some there as well.

If you go to Laughlin on the way back there is a cool road called Nipton Rd.. In Searchlight make a left at the main corner(left going back to Vegas). The views are awesome and you are in California for a bit. You go thru the community of Nipton. You end up coming out near Primm and the casinos. It is a nice ride and you can see some awesome scenery.

Great suggestions guys and some we haven't done yet either. After over 20 some visits.

We always try to get to Laughlin for a day. You don't have to play much to get very nice but very cheap rooms most nights. Aquarius is very nice place to stay there. One free thing in Laughlin is to take the water shuttle the Riverside Casino runs from the Arizon side parking lots to the casino. Just a mile hike or so from your hotel across the bridge to Bullhead City, and then get refreshed by the water spray as you take the free water taxi back. Very cheap thrill.

On the way to or from Laughlin check out the friendly little Cal Nev Ari casino/tavern/diner. If I get there at night it feels like I am in some desert town waiting for the saucers to come.

Halfway twixt Las Vegas and Laughlin is Searchlight. Searchlight Nugget nice little place, Terrible's there can be friendly place to play.

If you like Joshua Trees a lot, the highway that connects Searchlight to Interstate 15 is nicknamed the "Joshua Tree Highway". Lots and lots and lots of Joshua Trees waving at you for several miles.
