Does anyone care who wins the stupid $%$@# FU race?

If so, raise your hand, and set fire to twenty $100 bills to show your support.

I never did care. I will be glad when this farce is gone - as will many others--.Boondoggle - work or activity that is wasteful or pointless but gives the appearance of having value.

I think LVA wrote in yesterday's QOD that the F1 overall championship has already been won prior to this race.
The champion (can't remember the name) said something to the effect that even if he won this one it would be like kissing his sister, since it is a meaningless win.  But said he will participate anyway, which says something good about him, I suppose.  I'm thinking (as if my thoughts are worth 2 cents) why risk injury (body or car) for a championship that has already been decided?  These races are dangerous.

If it's anything like the US style of car races, he has to get out there and race to fulfill his endorsement deal(s). There's a number of adverts on his car ("DEPENDS" or "LITTLE FRISKIES" or something), and he's getting paid beaucoup bucks to expose them.

I'm hoping that there's a twenty-car pileup and the resulting conflagration burns down Caesar's.

The Wall Street Journal gives a more sobering view of the race and

local effects. Nov 18-19, 2023 edition. Going to my time share on Koval

right next to the Dome 11/25.That will be interesting.

The area "behind" the Strip: Koval between Sands/Spring Mountain and Tropicana, will be a horrific clusterfuck for the next several weeks, as they gradually take down the barriers, stands, and such. It's never exactly smooth going back there, especially on a busy weekend. But next weekend...yecch. Just like all of Vegas. Reno beckons!
