Does anyone else do this?

Air Tran does not do this. I thought Southwest was the only airline that did but I've now learned Jet Blue does too!
Most AirLines will refund the difference either directly or to a credit voucher for a future flight - but,
only JetBlue and Southwest do not charge a change fee. Other airlines charge a fee which can vary
from $75 to $150 depending on the airline for domestic flights and more for international flights.

In most cases with the change fee it is not worth it to go after the price difference, however if the price
difference is $200 and the change fee is $100 it would be worth it to request the $100 rebate.
always do this with hotel and car rentals
I just re-booked my Car-rental for a total savings of $5! My hubby
used to laugh at me when I'd do this but one time I saved $30
off the original price by re-booking at $5.00 less each time!

I keep checking on room rates up until the day I leave for the trip

Was unaware that JetBlue doesn't charge a change fee. had to cancel a trip last year. had i known, simply would have changed my travel dates and saved $200. Good info!

I usually purchase the "trip flex" when I book on Allegiant, basically it's a change fee upfront, in case we need to change plans due to work or home issues. Paid for itself on our upcoming March trip. We booked a Wednesday flight out, and then a few days later, the Monday flight dropped to $50 less per person. Re-booked to Monday, no additional charge for changing. I look at it as vacation insurance.

Now I have almost $100 credit to use for another trip within a year.

And JetBlue does not charge a change fee. So, if the fare goes down $30 you get the $30 into your
account. I have had trips where I have had 4 reductions in price and they refunded them each time.

That's one of the many things I really like about JetBlue. I find a fare I can live with and them check it
every day to see if the fare has gone down. You can also register your fare with Yapta.com and they
will e-mail you if the fare changes, but I prefer to watch it myself since sometimes their notification is
a few hours after the fare changes and it might be gone by the time you call to request the refund.

Additionally, if you book with miles they will return the difference to your mileage account.

Thanks so much again. Your information will likely save me a few hundred dollars this year.

Jet Blue DOES charge a fee when you change your flight date/time which I hate, hate, hate. But, I didn't know that if you are keeping your same flight but the fare is lowered after purchase that you could bank the difference.
I should have been more specific. FFlowers is correct that on JetBlue it is only when
asking for a rebate on the same flight itinerary that no change fee is charged.
