I think most of you are missing the point of visiting Las Vegas. It's not just about gambling. Vegas has always been a go-to destination for fun, sun, pools, entertainment, and food, especially buffets. And it used to be affordable and special. Now, it's mostly a place to party.
In the past, you could find bargains and steals in Vegas. You were treated like a VIP in many respects, with hotel and dining offers galore. There was no gouging and greed like there is now.
But those days are gone. They're never going to return. Resort fees are now the norm, and hotel Wi-Fi is often limited to one or two devices. Vegas is no longer an affordable vacation destination, and it's not as special as it used to be. But, it still has its charm and prestige, like Hawaii. Everybody looks at you in awe when you say you've been to Vegas.
I think this is why profits are so high in Las Vegas. The corporations that run the city know how people think now and are able to extract as much money as possible from tourists. And they're not going to stop any time soon. Just like with the prices at the grocery stores and greedflation. They know they can charge whatever they want and get away with it too. They'll just deflect blame to inflation while their profits are at an all-time high as well.
So what does this mean for us commoners? It means we're going to have to stay home and reminisce about the good old days of Las Vegas. Or, if you're really privileged, you'll continue to invest in crypto, the stock market, and real estate. But for the rest of us, Vegas is just out of reach. I have no inclination to vist Reno, it's just not Vegas. New Orleans? Well, I'm too old now to flash my bobs, lol.
The takeaway for me is the greed of the corporations that run Vegas have turned it into a playground for the privileged and classists. Much like Monaco and Macau have for the Asian and EU markets. The rest of us are just being priced out. The F1 demographics is booming, especially within North America amongst the classists. There's no denying this fact. This will only bring more people to Vegas. You either go with the flow, or you stay at home and stream old Vegas movies and series on your favorite streaming service.
