It did exactly what it was designed to do:
1. It sucked hundreds of millions of dollars out of the pockets of ordinary people and businesses, and put that money into the pockets of a few fat cat corporations.
2. It provided a couple of hours of masturbation for a few ultra-rich and some fans in Europe.
3. It proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Vegas is run by the casinos and that they don't give two shits about the people who live there.
4. It proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the ordinary tourist is pocket lint to them and they don't give two shits about the kind of experience he has.
Vegas doesn't give a flying crap about you or me. If you're still planning to go there in the near future, ask yourself this: How do I know that the next mega-event they have planned won't utterly fuck up my trip and turn it into an ultra-expensive nightmare?
I for one am not paying $449 a night (plus tax and resort fee) to sit in traffic jams all weekend. But that's just me, I guess, as reports have shown that the lemmings are still eagerly flooding in. I guess that Vegas has become what they deserve.
