Going from Las Vegas to Lake Tahoe.

I'm traveling to Las Vegas for the 19th Annual CC&GTCC Convention in June, https://convention2011.com/ and am planning a side trip to Lake Tahoe. I'm thinking of staying a night at either the Stagecoach in Beatty or the Tonopah Station in Tonopah. Does anyone know of any other clean, reasonably priced places to stay on the way to Lake Tahoe? (Preferably a casino with table games)
Isn't it an 8 to 9 hour drive?
I've done Vegas to Reno in a comfortable 7 1/2 hours. Tonopah is the biggest dot on the map between the two which is close to the half way mark. There seems to be more "life" in Tonopah than Beatty.

Neither seem to be a "destination" but rather a stopping point for tourists and a gathering place for locals.

I would try to get it done in the same day but if you're not comfortable with driving that far, Tonopah would be my (albeit weak) recommendation.

As to specific places, sorry, can't help you there. I believe we stopped at the Ramada for lunch in Tonopah but it was small and nothing to write home over.

I like your spirit! Enjoy the drive.

I will add; the next time you might want to consider going Vegas-Death Valley-Tahoe. We have done that drive in reverse, (started in South Shore Lake Tahoe and pulled into Vegas 9 days later) and the entire trip was great.

Almost Hwy 395 the entire time. You get Tahoe, Yosemite, Owens Valley, Mono Lake, Mt. Whitney, Death Valley National Park, Parhump, Nevada, and so much more great stuff. The Death Valley Opera House Motel is great! The Dow Villa Motel in Lone Pine, Calfornia is the best in town and full of great photos of Hollywood times in Lone Pine.

Driving that route your gambling choices are limited, you're in California most of the time, but there are several California Casinos on 395. Poker, California Blackjack and some other games.

Once in Tahoe, the best rooms are at Harrah's. Harvey's is fine too- just walk throught the casino, down the stairs, through the tunnel and you're in Harveys. Eat at XVIIII for a view to remember (good food too).

You obviously have an adventurous nature- give it a try.

Hey, Tommy ... welcome back! Haven't seen you around here for a few years.
Thank you very much Sue. I hope you've been well.

It is indeed very nice to be back. In the last week or so I have read many post and it is quite obvious that you are still a great asset to the boards. Nicely done.

Tommy
Tommy, last we talked you were working with Ellen. Still there? Feel free to PM. Or blab.
Whatever you feel like. lol
Like Sue said, Welcome back to the neighborhood.
Yes, let us know what you're doing nowadays. Inquiring minds want to know, lol. I'm doing okay. Haven't posted as much as I did in the old days. Mostly because I've been working a lot.

Do you still stay at MSS when you're in town?
Thanks for your reply! I enjoyed reading about your trip!

I arrive in Vegas around 10:00 AM and have reservations in Tahoe the next day. I did the Vegas to Reno trip last summer and liked it so much that I decided to do it again! This time I'm doing the trip up in two days, allowing time to visit Death Valley and Yosemite on the way. Two nights in Tahoe then back to Vegas!

Thanks again and take care!
