golden age of posters

I also miss all the old posts. I know Flip got married, left these boards and sometimes posts in the ACone board. I miss Noahcat (Jean Marie) and I hear she also got married and is no longer posting. Very sad.

These boards used to be full of trip reports. I check in all the time, and they are few and far between.
Hi Larry!

Janice -- Flip posts over on lvadvice dot com.
So Noahcat got married - well, I'm very happy for her. I never did meet her in person, but I loved her posts. She seemed like a really great person. Connie and I did take Sue Casey out to dinner at the Cannery steakhouse once, and I remember Jerry (I think his userid was JJJ21 or something like that). He was at the very first member meet I ever went to. He played table games, mostly at MGM from what I remember. A very nice gentleman.

Oh well.
I'm still here, Steve, and I remember our dinner.

Mare is right -- there's not much to read on here anymore. A lot of people have left because the boards are so slow. Jeanne-Marie is fine, happily married, still living in Brooklyn. She posts occasionally on lvadvice.

Sue - so nice to hear from you! I hope all is well. Thanks for the update on Jeanne-Marie!
You can see visit more active Vegas boards and trade there but you can't get an MRB at those sites. That is the main reason for me being here. The info I pickup here at the LVA boards and the newsletter is gravy. Best of all you can do it from the comfort of your own home.
Sad but true. The boards ain't what they used to be.

I think the first hit the boards took was when the format was updated (a long time ago) and posters no longer had the option to view all forum posts on one page. I know that frequent posters, including myself, much preferred to view all new posts on one page. Then they could see all the latest posts and respond to questions on any topic without having to open and review every single Forum for new posts. Being helpful became a hassle.

Then the Free-For-All Forums opened drawing more people and activity away from the paid forums. At least this Forum is a one stop shop for the latest posts but it is also a one stop shop an overwhelming amount of nonsense.

Then the loading of the Forums became so painfully slow that it wasn't even possible to look at new posts on every forum without a huge time commitment. Being helpful became even more of a hassle.

And then the search function broke so you can't even use the Forums to research anything anymore. Being helpful now means repeating yourself because no-one can find what has already been said.
I'm one of those that's been gone a few years. Still pining for the old days when Caesars had 25 cent 9/6 Jacks and Wynn had FPDW.

Hi Sue. Noahcat got married?
Yes, last summer. To a very nice man.

Well the Search Function can still somewhat be used by listing the poster's name (either the original poster or any of the commenters) and then having a search done through both the current messages option as well as the archived messages option.
