Graduation trip for daughters

Trying to decide if Vegas would be a good choice for our two daughters plus friends as we celebrate their high school graduation in 2013. They will be 17 years old then. I think they would have a blast, what do you guys think ??
My parents took me to Vegas every year since I was two and I have many fond memories. I did not take my children until my daughter was sixteen. She did not have a good time because she could stand here but not here and there were too may activities that she could not take part. She is now twenty two and thinks Vegas is a base to explore the desert which she loves.

Her older brother refused to go until he was twenty one and now he loves the town especially Down Town.

Your daughters may love the pool scene, the Strip outside and Freemont Street but may feel restricted inside the casinos. It's you call.

I don't know how much there is for teens to do in Las Vegas except possibly for going to arcades and/or the swimming pools (but this should be looked into). Except I seem to remember seeing some ad for group children/teenager excoursions to the amusement type places. I don't know if I can find that company's name or not but I will try to check around.

Also maybe you can try asking Hotel concierges. Does the LVA have something somewhere here about activities for kids? I now do remember that there is a book that the LVA website has promoted called Kidding Around In Las Vegas which could have some ideas for you.

I remember about 7 years back when my family took my 17 y/o cousin to Vegas with them. I heard they practically had to leave her in the room, because she wasn't allowed in any of the casinos while the family gambled. They would take her out once in a while to walk on the strip and show her the pretty lights. Vegas is definitely not for anyone under 21, unless you go to Lake Mead and the mountains or something.

thought I would put in my 2 cents’. I brought my 14 year old son out around Memorial Day last year.

We had a blast in that we did almost all non-gambling activities:
Went to Red Rocks Hiking
Went swimming at hotel
Boat trip on Lake Mead
Walked the strip at night
Did the zip line downtown
When to the dam and did a tour
Took a float ride down the Colorado River that started at the Dam
Saw 3 shows, Terry Fator, Love & Human Nature. Son grumbled about Human Nature being for “old” people but he loved the show.
We walked through many casinos to check them out and my son did watch me play some slots. The only place he was questioned was at the Bellagio. But other than that, all ok.
His mother made him walk through a few malls but that was all for shopping.

You can find many things to do but I have to say that I did not plan this as my other trips to Vegas. If I played more than 1 hour a day that was a lot. It was mostly a family trip so he could see what I get all excited about. He can hardly wait to go back
Chuck had the right idea. If the purpose is to show your daughters a good time (see Chuck's activities which prove there are things for kids to do), then by all means bring them and have a blast. However, if the purpose is for gambling, leave them at home.

Know anyone who makes really good fake ID's?
I would take the girls too Las Vegas! I would love a trip like that. Let's see I would do these things:

Pool
Shopping (Vegas has great stores)
Spa
Shows
Walking around and sight seeing . . . Volcano, Effile Tower, Fountains
Roller Coaster
Great Restaurants
Museums (neon boneyard, mormon fort)
Nature hike
Also, once saw a limo tour that took you to the Las Vegas sign then to the great picture spots, and downtown, now that would be fun.

I went before I was 21 and have fond memories.

Good Luck

Have the girls been there before? If so, then yes, they could bring their friends & show they around town.
If not? eh. They could definately feel awkward many places........

My sons grew up visiting Vegas, but we did family activities mostly, when they were younger.
By the time they were old enough to venture out on their own.....they knew where
to go, & what they could, & couldn't do. They aren't big gamblers these days, due to budgets, but they
enjoy getting buffet comps, & freeplay, etc. (wonder where they got that from?) lol

Like I said, if its the girls first time?
I think College Graduation would make more sense than High School grad.
