happenings in vegas early may

what is going on the first week in may in vegas? rooms seem extremely high. and some places, like orleans are full!

We're looking to go May 4-9 and rooms are much more expensive. I've been told the Kentucky Derby is that first weekend, there is a big boxing match that weekend and Cinqo d' Mayo is also celebrated on the Sunday (4th) in Vegas, but that doesn't explain why Monday-Thursday rates are so high.

Will they have cinco de mayo as a holiday?

bon appetite weekend starts on the thur the 8th thru the 11th as well

It should be a holiday, they are the hardest working people in our country at this time.
