10 years or so ago I was bowling in the Wisconsin State Tourney. They sell
raffle tix for eveything. Top prize was trip for two to Vegas. I bought
$10 in tickets.

Months go by and I get a call telling me I won. Airfare for two and
two nights at TI. I checked air schedules and realized I'd only be
in Vegas less than 48 hours; so, I called the organization that was
giving me the trip and asked if they'd be willing to give me another
night after I explained my reasoning. Few days later I got the okay.
Sometimes it pays to be nice.

Yes! A few years ago, the local pub where I played poker had a sponsorship from Budweiser and the Amateur Poker League to hold a tournament to send 5 players to Vegas. We had to play at the pub and earn points based upon our finishes. The top 100 players from a 5 state area were invited to the Invitational Tournament, also sponsored by Budweiser. It had free merchandise, free food, and free drinks. Well....I drank WAY too much but somehow I finished 5th in the tournament and made it to Vegas!!!!

We were comped the whole trip. Southwest Airlines, Mirage stay, Budweiser clothes and sunglasses, limo from the airport, food and drink. We also got an entry ticket (only 40 nationwide) to a tournament on the main floor of the Mirage. The winner received an entry into the $25K tournament at the Bellagio. There were TV cameras, announcers, etc. I was WAY out of my league!

Anyway, I decided to play it smart and not drink. You know, take this seriously. Well....I lasted 45 minutes in the tournament. (Shoulda had those free Budweisers!). But I was still in Vegas for 2 more days! It ended up being a great trip, other than the tournament. I even allowed myself to get bumped for $512 on the way back! I only had to wait 3 hours for the next flight.

Super sweet...would do it again any day!

Four years ago I entered a radio contest drawing for a free trip for two to Vegas, and I won. The prize included airfare, accommodations at California Hotel and meals. I was totally surprised when they called my name over the radio.

Last year I entered a 7-11 Vegas contest with 21 prizes including 4 trips. I was one of the 21 finalists (in the state), and won $100. The year before, my girlfriend entered the same 7-11 contest and was a finalist; she did better and won $250.

We enter every Las Vegas trip contest we can -- you never know, you just might win.

One of my co-workers won a trip to vegas for the CMA's a couple of years ago.

I won a trip to Disney world once a long time ago. 7 nights hotel, park tickets and a car rental.

I won one for the Millionaire Maker last March at Paris L.V. and the year before at NO.L.A.. Vegas is always fun, but free is even better.

In 1988 I was selling timeshares and the company I worked for had a contest for most sales in a 3 month period. I won. 7 days and 6 nights in Las Vegas. Never been before, hadn't even gambled before. Wife says there is nothing in Vegas for her so she stayed home.

Brought $150 with me for the entire trip. Stayed at Union Plaza. Buffets were like $1.99 breakfast, $2.99 lunch, and $3.99 supper. Played mostly blackjack and first night had an individual at the table that explained basic strategy to me. Didn't help tho.

Came home with $3.00 in my pocket and lots of stories to tell the wife. She eventually agreed to come to Vegas with me a few years later and now I can't keep her away, (WOOHOO).
