The heat is on

Apparently the statisics support Kevin Lewis' observation.

If you think Las Vegas has been getting hotter, you’re not imagining it.

Temperatures are rising around the world, and Southern Nevada is experiencing the worst of it.

Las Vegas has been named the fastest-warming city in the United States by Climate Central, an organization that studies climate change.

But Trumpers, and Republicans in general, say it's all FAKE NOOZE! Fossil fuel companies give Republicans sacks of cash to say that climate change is a liberal hoax perpetrated by the leftist media, and by the way HILLARY SENT EMAILS.

This is not really recent news. The data are there, in huge quantities that cannot be sensibly refuted or ignored. The question is whether we're going to DO anything about it. But apparently keeping share prices propped up so millionaires can get richer is more important than keeping people from dying.

I would expect the Las Vegas powers that be to be particularly concerned about climate change. Vegas can't get any hotter and remain livable, let alone remain a viable tourist destination. The wild precipitation patterns that have come with climate change aren't any good for Vegas, either--flash floods and such.

It has cooled off a bit and I almost decided to go.

Late September is great as October.

To wake up in a hotel room with a brutal hangover AND a sunburn,is enough to screw up your entire day on your vacation.Add the cement nose and chapped lips and you are not having fun.

Alcohol does NOT dull the pain, but it may help to not feel so bad.

Sun screen, lip balm and a LOT of bottled water is a primary defence.

If you are not used to that kind of heat, you will not be happy. Fat people DIE in that kind of climate.
