Help! I now have a host

I have never been high enough up on the food chain for a host. When I called Caesars to make a change to a three night comp I have coming up, they directed me to VIP and I was told to check in when I got there and I would be assigned a host. Yikes! I am sure this will be my only year as a Diamond, so I am really at a loss. My biggest question is: do you tip hosts? If so, when--at end of stay? And since my room is comped, do I charge some things to the room and then ask host about comping them when time to leave? I've always just used my points before. As always, any advice--preferably kind--is appreciated.
Hosts are not supposed to take cash as a tip.

Some casino companies do not allow Hosts to receive tips. Ask your host.

Almost all accept a thank you gift card from say Macys, Home Depot, a restaraunt, or other higer end store.

I had one who accepted only books.

Ask what they collect and try to fine something to fit.

Some like Boyds have a policy where the Host must share food gifts with other Hosts. (So I have been told)
Your best bet is to ask the Host waht is acceptable.

Congratulations, Your now an official Whale

Seriously you're play somehow suggested that you are a potential player to be developed. You do not tip host however if one goes out of his way to get you something extra or develops an ongoing relationship you can give a small gift. A tie is the traditional choice or show tickets to another property.

At Caesars, host now have little power unless they have a genuine high-roller, usually now they can't give you anymore then the computer. Do not expect very much real attention but it would be a good idea to stop by and meet your host during your stay.

Also back home at the office it is fun to drop the line "my host at Caesars"

Again congratulations!
We've had a host from Caesars for a couple of years now. I have never tipped him as I've only communicated with him via email to book our rooms and sometimes the limo. We're really low maintenance, but he does get us rooms above what we could book ourselves which is nice. In Vegas we only get to use our reward credits to cover our bill and haven't "earned" more being comp'ed.

Enjoy it while it lasts! You may surprise yourself and make diamond again.

Beth

Don't worry about it.

Your play is their payment. Job security.
They just directed me to "my host" too. Never heard of the guy.
Won't get my hopes up til he actually DOES something.

Good luck to you. Hope you got a good one.

Agree with Candy, you dont have to do anything except play............LOTS. lol
