Help with friends vacation

OK, have a friend who doesn't gamble, but wants to bring the kids to Vegas as he has a show to attend there. I usually get a cheap flight on Spirit out of Detroit, and comped roooms.
He is planning to stay at the Mirage and leaving from Detroit. Any idea what site would be the best to go on to help him get a good deal on his vacation. He will be coming a Tuesday or Wednesday in March and plans to come back on the Friday or Sunday.
The best success I have had on getting my trips out there planned are searching expedia or travelocity for flights...but not booking through them...It gives you the best flights that would fit your schedule then I book through the airlines actual site such as Delta or Airtran. Best bet for Hotels are the deals that you can get on the front page of Las Vegas Advisor or www.smartervegas.com. You actually end up booking the rooms right through the hotel but with discount codes that are usually a lot cheaper than any combo offer you can get from expedia, etc. Plus a benefit of this is if they develop enough comp points sometimes they can comp your room at the end of the trip (happened with my parents) but they can't do that if you get the room through a third party retailer. Not sure if that is as important though since you said your friend isn't gambling.

Either way good luck and hope your friend has a great trip...
Thanks I will pass that along to him.
Just as a reminder, American Airlines is no longer dealing with the third party resellers (like Orbitz and Expedia), so you might remind them to check the different airlines own websites as well, just in case.

We have had good luck with US Airways Vacations for their package deals sometimes too. Last year it was cheaper for us to book a vacation with air and hotel than the price of the EXACT same flights alone. Crazy. I'm not sure about the Detroit market though (we fly out of DFW), but it's another idea.

I hope your friends enjoy all Vegas has to offer.

I would suggest checking flight + hotel packages. Start with Spirit and Delta, then move along to Southwest and the other airlines. You can sometimes get some good deals with the packages, especially when the airlines are running sales.
I agree, be sure to check the vacation packages offered by the airlines. Southwest has some great ones.
