3 years ago or so my wife & I took the rental car and went to Red Rock canyon to take some pictures (beautiful!) at the end of the tour I noticed an advertisment for horse back riding in the canyon. I have only been on a horse twice in my life and thought it would be a cool thing to do.
I investigated it through these message boards and found them at www.cowboytrailrides.com. The wife and I took the evening tour where they try to time it so that you hit the top of the canyon as the lights of Vegas come on (an amazing sight). When you get back they have a Bar-B-Que and sing cowboy songs around the campfire.
The Goods and the bads
#1 The goods.
It was as advertised and we had a great time. The cowboys and cowgirl helped the everyone onto the horses, of coarse the good looking cowboy just has to help your wife up and onto the horse by her ass (Grrrrr!) The horses knew the trail so well, you almost didnt have to steer them.
#2 The bads
It was slightly pricy at $180 each and they blind side you at the end asking for tips. Getting to the top of the canyon was not for the faint of heart! The horse had to "dig in" and work to get up the mountin in some spots. I thought we would be on the bunny trail so to speak, but I thought we were on black diamond in some spots! If you are physically challanged this could be a tough ride. On the other hand it made it so exciting that we have not stopped talking about it!
