Host - How's that work?

Hi Everyone,

Wanted to get some help with how a Host works? Probably an obvious deal but thought I'd just ask.

Here's the scoop:

We go to Vegas 1-2 times a year and for the last 4 years or so we have been going to TI because it's the first place to start sending us comps. We have been getting 3 nights free and $200-$300 in free slot play approximately.

For the first time ever though, we received a card from a Host about 4 months ago. Since then we have booked our promotion we received in the mail and will be going 4/17 - 4/21 (we paid for an extra night).

Anyway, since we've never called a Host or anything....would you recommend we do? Is there anything extra they would give us? Just curious.

Thanks for any help.
They could probably get you that extra night that you paid for made into a complimentary night.
They can override a Mon-Thu offer to include a weekend night.
They can get your meals comped off of your bill at the end of your stay.
They can get you comped shows during your stay.
They can get you a limo pick-up/drop-off at the airport.
.
These are all things that they can do for you. The better your rapport with them, the more they'll help you out. So at the beginning, it's solely based on play. After a couple of years with the same host, as they get to know you, they'll bend a bit for you if you come in with a low play trip and such.
.
You do want your host to be working the day you check out or the evening before, so call to speak to a host on the day of the week that you normally would be leaving TI, then when they connect you to a host you'll be talking to one that works the hours that fit you. Ask if you can get that 4th night comped. Ask if you can meet with them on your trip into town. When you meet, ask if there are any promotions or tournaments that weekend that you can get into (they can do that, too). When you check out, ask if they can comp off your room balance (food, spa or whatever else). At that time you'll have a good idea of what your play can accomplish for you. On future visits always ask for a little bit more than that...if you don't ask you don't get and all they can say is, "No".

Just what smerrian said, but also wanted to add even though you already have the free room offer go ahead and have the host make the reservations for you. They then get the "credit" for your stay. We started having the host at MSS make our reservations and once we did got up graded to a suite even though our offer was for a standard room only. Have also used a host to get meal comps at places we aren't even staying.
I also have a question about hosts. I was contacted by a "host" advising he had been assigned to me and could help me with any planned trips anywhere and with promotions. I informed him I already had reservations at Caesars in April. He requested an upgrade and said I should check with a host before checking out to see if anything could be comped. Do I just go to the Host office and ask whoever is working to check my play? Do they comp meals, etc before using my reward points first? I am Diamond and have never had any kind of host before. Thanks.

Stu + lt.ax49 +1. I would ask the host NOW for the extra comped night. That's a pretty easy up front ask -- especially as you have a track record there -- and unless it's a holiday weekend doesn't really cost the casino anything but saves you money. You'll then have already saved prior to arrival and as lt.ax said you've hooked your host up by giving her/him credit for your stay.

Meals/shows, etc. can be post play but I agree, over time, your host can comp you those things up front too.

That's a great move by the Host at Caesars, to offer the upgrade you before arrival. If you plan to go to the Host office at Caesars, be advised it is a tiny office, maybe one person working, usually on the phone, and lucky if you get an acknowledgement of any kind that you are waiting. I suggest you call that Host's number after you get settled in at the hotel. Leave a message that you have arrived and look forward to meeting him, your cell phone number so he can call you even if he isn't on property that day. Don't wait until the last minute before departing to visit the office. Enjoy your stay!

Soonermom,

I have a great host at Caesars if you want. Send me an email at [email protected] if you want her information and email, she can work with you before and get you situated if need be.
Good recent insight into how a host works at Vegaschatter, in a brief writeup subbed How a Host Works, check it out.
Very cool signature chilcoot.
This is also the 50th anniversary of ML King's I Have a Dream speech, if I remember correctly.
