How Vegas Scams Tourists Every Day (Without Breaking the Law)

The scams used by the casinos to enrich their bottom line at your expense -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t8t28Ur1Fw

Scams are illegal. Nothing this guy complains about is against the law.

He complains about resort fees as if they're some hidden total surprise. His ranting goes on and on about all the ripoffs that he's "found."

The thing is, none of that stuff is involuntary, and thanks to the Biden legislation, none of it is hidden. You can find out easily enough when you make your reservation what your entire room charge will be. Don't like it? Find someplace else.

Likewise, he bitches about gambling and how the casinos manipulate players. Well, DUH. Slots contain features that encourage you to keep playing. But no one is holding a gun to your head. If you're dumb enough to play slots in the first place, you're going to lose, but how much you lose is completely up to you and under your control. Don't like $25 minimum 6:5 shitjack? DON'T PLAY IT!

When you're a tourist, visiting pretty much anywhere for any reason, you have to be vigilant and plan ahead...or you can just waltz in there and blow your money. Vegas isn't anything unique in that aspect.

In the title of this post he states (without breaking the law). Complaining? He is just stating the facts. A lot of what he talks about are things that many people don't know, and, as found in the comments made to his post, many people state that they appreciate the information. I find it difficult to comprehend that the information he is giving can be described as "bitching". As far as "planing ahead" goes, his information is there for people to use as they "plan ahead" for a Vegas visit.

The things he described aren't "scams." All of the info he provides can be found out by anybody with half a brain and two minutes to spare. If you arrive in Vegas and are surprised by the high prices, that's not a scam--that's you not doing your research.

Thanks to the Biden bill, they can't quote you a room rate without including resort fees and taxes. Now, that was a scam--when they would advertise low rates that were less than half what you would eventually be charged.

The poster chose an inaccurate title for his opus in order to get more clicks. Nothing he bitches about in his video is a "scam."

I am not being political here but is having the total price upfront as of January making hotels room prices too high to come to Las Vegas verses the old way of pricing.  This decline could be because 3 to 5 percent were being fooled before and not realize they had to pay those resort fees on the back end,  and had they known, might not have booked in years past.  Is it possible ?

The mandated disclosures didn't raise the prices. They closed the gap between the advertised prices and the real prices.

You speculate that some people may previously have been suckered by "$29 a night" and only found out on arrival that that didn't include a $59 resort fee, and now, they're not coming because the true price of $88 is what's advertised, but I doubt that's the case for any but a few visitors.

And as far as a turn-off is concerned, such people would have been more inclined to stay away after that happened than would be by upfront high prices. IMHO at least. I'm partially thinking about when people found out about the resort fees. Now, they know at the time they book. But imagine Ferd and Wilma blowing a couple thousand in Vegas and while checking out, finding that they owe the hotel $300 more than they thought. I suspect that may have repulsed a lot of people for good.

It's only "devious" if people are stupid and/or careless enough to fall for it. And guess what--EVERY business that sells goods or services enriches their bottom line at "your expense." That's what happens when one party buys something from another party.

We don't like what the casinos are doing these days, but we possess the knowledge to avoid their so-called 'devious strategies " These kinds of bleats are written by people who didn't do any research before visiting Vegas, probably drank too much and overate, and paid too much for everything. Only a careless or foolish person will fall victim to this so-called "deviousness."

And I for one don't put much stock in what some rando posts on YouTube.

I like the upfront pricing, mostly for booking concerts, which is the law in Colorado. When I see the total price upfront, I've decided to buy when I click it, so I always complete the purchase. Recently, I saw that Daniel Tosh will be performing during my upcoming Vegas trip, so I clicked to buy tickets, at the end, all the fees were added, and I didn't buy the tickets. They were more than I thought the show was worth.
