Is it over for Vegas?

Probably right......and no, it's not over for Las Vegas.  Still plenty of people will be coming and paying the prices for shows, food and gaming.  Some like Brent, myself, and other low rollers will be looking to use the LVA and other means to lessen the hits to our wallets.

The biggest reason is that The Gouge has been going on long enough that a substantial customer base--younger folks, mostly--has become inured to it. The $399 room? Normal. The $28 grilled cheese sandwich? Normal. $25 to park? Ditto.

"Grandpa told me that a blackjack used to pay 3 to 2." "What? Naah!" "He also said there used to be no such thing as resort fees. And you could park at casinos for free." "No way!!"

So when Bonzo Bankrollblower dumps $2000 in one Vegas weekend, he's completely unfazed. We LVAers would consider that a bad trip, and not the LSD kind.

Vegas will adapt. It always has and always will. And competition is back to an extent which is nice to see. I prefer lighter crowds. Less crowding at hotel reception, bathrooms, elevators, restaurants, tables, parking, slots and so on. Fine by me.
