It is an incredible city!

It's easy to become complacent about Las Vegas when you live here, but we just hosted a 20 year old guest for two weeks who not only hasn't been to Las Vegas before, but travelled rarely during her life. So we did the tourist thing again. We went to:

Red Rock Canyon

Mt. Charleston

Valley of Fire where we took the back way out, drove by Lake Mead to Lake Las Vegas where we had lunch by the Lake and then continued to Hoover Dam

Went to Oatman, Arizona to feed the burros (and pick up some Powerball Tickets ....we lost)

Went to the top of the Stratosphere and the Eiffel Tower at night (just spectacular sights and the Eiffel Tower is the best place to view the Bellagio Fountains. We stayed up there for four shows).

Went to Fremont Street - If you haven't been there in years it's definitely worth the trip as there are three different bandstands with groups performing, street performers, street artists, Zip-lining as well as the hourly light show. It's like every night is New Year's Eve downtown.

Went to see:
Absinthe
Love
Mystere
Surf
Blue Man Group
Phantom
Bellagio Conservatory and Fountains
Mirage Volcano
Rainstorm at Planet Hollywood
Masquerade in the Sky at Rio
Dolphin Habitat at Mirage
Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay

Ate at:
Terra Rosa (Red Rock)
Gardunos (Palms)
Letitia's Mexican Cantina (North Las Vegas)
Milos (Cosmopolitan)
Claim Jumper
Egg Works (Flamingo & Ft Apache)

Shopped at:
Forum Shops
Crystals
Miracle Mile
Fashion Show Mall
Swap Meet
Venetian
Trivoli Village

And I'm sure there is lots that I forgot since we were on the go constantly. I am more aware of the excitement of the city since I drive a limo in town so I experience it again through the excitement of the guests whom I drive, but Peggy doesn't. "Re-seeing" the city through the eyes of a 20 year old was an incredible experience and makes you realize what an amazing place this is. Plus, all these experiences were without gambling and drinking. What a great place to visit!

What wonder hosts you are! Can I be your next house guest?
You are right about what fun it is to show Vegas to newbies.
This is like a dream itinerary, Larry. No travel agent could do better.

Thanks!
What a great sentiment. Las Vegas is incredible! What was her favortie show and which was her favorite Cirque?

I will be hosting a couple of 23 y.o. vegas virgins in November and will be taking in many of the sites you listed also again and I am really excited.

I love Las Vegas!!!

Go back to work and get some rest Larry, (Like I have to do when I return home from vacation)

Her favorite show was Mystere and her favorite sight was the Bellagio Fountains from the top of the Eiffel Tower at night. She couldn't get over how they can make fountains dance. We showed her the fountains earlier in the trip from the front of Bellagio, but nothing compares to the view from the tower.

What a WONDERFUL Host!
You're the Best!
Too much fun. . . . did ya take off work?
Did ya get to pick her up from the arpt
in your limo?
Are you working overtime to pay for
the past host duties?
2 weeks . . . that's a long time. . . .
I actually worked during that time. We did the day trips and evening shows on my days off. Peggy was in charge of the shopping trips on the days that I was working, but there was one day where I did pick them up in the Limo at the Fashion Show Mall and brought them back home, so she did get to ride in a Limo. We also got to do some things in the mornings before I went to work. It was an expensive two weeks, but at this point in life, what else are we going to do with the money? It's there to be enjoyed and we certainly enjoyed showing our guest the town.

Thanks Larry for the follow up. Not being a fan of heights, I had not thought about her view from the effiel tower at night would be more spectacular than an afternoon view. Great tip.

Have a Great Day,
Great Itinerary - thanks!
