It's easy to become complacent about Las Vegas when you live here, but we just hosted a 20 year old guest for two weeks who not only hasn't been to Las Vegas before, but travelled rarely during her life. So we did the tourist thing again. We went to:
Red Rock Canyon
Mt. Charleston
Valley of Fire where we took the back way out, drove by Lake Mead to Lake Las Vegas where we had lunch by the Lake and then continued to Hoover Dam
Went to Oatman, Arizona to feed the burros (and pick up some Powerball Tickets ....we lost)
Went to the top of the Stratosphere and the Eiffel Tower at night (just spectacular sights and the Eiffel Tower is the best place to view the Bellagio Fountains. We stayed up there for four shows).
Went to Fremont Street - If you haven't been there in years it's definitely worth the trip as there are three different bandstands with groups performing, street performers, street artists, Zip-lining as well as the hourly light show. It's like every night is New Year's Eve downtown.
Went to see:
Absinthe
Love
Mystere
Surf
Blue Man Group
Phantom
Bellagio Conservatory and Fountains
Mirage Volcano
Rainstorm at Planet Hollywood
Masquerade in the Sky at Rio
Dolphin Habitat at Mirage
Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay
Ate at:
Terra Rosa (Red Rock)
Gardunos (Palms)
Letitia's Mexican Cantina (North Las Vegas)
Milos (Cosmopolitan)
Claim Jumper
Egg Works (Flamingo & Ft Apache)
Shopped at:
Forum Shops
Crystals
Miracle Mile
Fashion Show Mall
Swap Meet
Venetian
Trivoli Village
And I'm sure there is lots that I forgot since we were on the go constantly. I am more aware of the excitement of the city since I drive a limo in town so I experience it again through the excitement of the guests whom I drive, but Peggy doesn't. "Re-seeing" the city through the eyes of a 20 year old was an incredible experience and makes you realize what an amazing place this is. Plus, all these experiences were without gambling and drinking. What a great place to visit!
