Its the new thing - Casino dog parks !

Just an observation from my recent trip.   There's an awful lot of BS prescriptions being written for "therapy animals"...  I'm not saying that concept is BS.   I'm just saying the number of people with social anxiety, PTSD, or whatever other emotional illness is not at the level of people getting these animals.

Its kinda like medical marijuana....some people need it - but alot of people just want to smoke pot so they make up a bullshit illness to get a prescription for it.  Same thing here.   Aunt Peggy just wants her poodle, FiFi, to go everywhere with her so she makes up a BS illness to get the paperwork.    I was in the Plaza and it was like a petting zoo in there - and the owners didnt seem to have much trouble talking/interacting with other people.  If you are hooting and hollering at the craps table you dont have social anxiety disorder.

To be clear, I dont have a problem with pets or pet friendly places.   And if you have a service dog  they  have to be seriously trained so they dont run around humping everyones' legs.    Just making an observation.

Dogs, like kids, don't belong in casinos...period.

This is not to say that the emotional maturity and behavior of many dogs isn't far superior to that of many casino patrons.

Our last Vegas trip was in August 2022. We saw more dogs ( the canine variety) on that trip than ever previously...by far. We saw a dog fight at the Bellagio cashier cage on that trip, for instance. What did the owners and casino / hotel management crew think was going to happen when the poor canines were congregated in a confined area? It's all rather ridiculous, and at least a tad self-centered of the dog owners. The SO and I are dog fans, but we feel that there are some lines that shouldn't be crossed with a dog on a leash. That attitude of course would exclude certified and legitimate service dogs that are in a special category all their own.

This is one of those things for which filling out the survey is useful.  I always do, and have received proof that my gripe or concern or compliment was addressed.  Sometimes you have to pick and choose which item on the survey to low rate, like "Casino experience" or some such; give it a 1 or 2, and describe what happened and how you feel about pets in the hotel/casino or whatever.  A letter of complaint goes in the round file, but somebody is assigned to review those online surveys you get after a stay, and convey problems upward.  I'd sure be very vocal (on the survey) about that dog fight.

I like dogs and cats, but not so much as to bring one on a casino trip.  And don't get me started on the vicious breeds that owners insist are so well behaved.  Maybe at home, but not in a different environment.

And then there are those women who bring their husbands and insist they're properly trained and socialized, which may be true at home, but not in a different environment.

All too often, they forget their training.

I blew their cover. Two women were walking bold and confidently with teir pit bull in front of them with people moving out of their way. I love pit bulls and whenever I see one I have to pet them and asked the women, ‘Awe, what’s your pretty pitties name?” as the dog stoped, smiled and wagged his tail. “He’s nice, huh?” As I started petting him real good they were like, “Yes-no. Don’t let people know he’s nice!” as he starts kissing me with his giant mouth, and wanted his belly rubbed. So I apologized and tried to act afraid of the happy dog and let them keep walking tough with their dog.

Read Pitbulls history. Nanny dogs to take care of children. Too bad some people train them to be bad and it ruins the reputation for all of them.
