Jun.20-22= Las Vegas Electric Daisy Carnival.

Just a heads up regarding this festival--it
makes Las Vegas VERY BUSY when it is in town.
We happened to be in Las Vegas last year when
it was "happening" and rooms etc were at a
premium. If you don't attend the event--you
wont have the direct contact as much. . . but
it seemed there was a ton of drive-in traffic
for it. MGM seems to be the "official" go-to
for rooms. It is held at the Speedway. It also
monopolizes the news and they had to shut it down
early (I believe) because of drug use etc. . . last
year. This event attracts a repeat crowd and the
web page states that it is sold out. Just an FYI. .

Last year we arrived at the Venetian on Sunday, the last day of the EDC and the place was overrun with half dressed, drunk young adults. Monday morning everything was back to normal. Hubby and I are sure we never behaved like that when we were young

While drinking certain goes on, it is not allowed at the carnival. Guests are searched when they enter the event (not that they have much clothes on to search). Last year I drove a shuttle bus to and from the festival all night and they were also searched and had to get rid of any alcohol they were carrying before they boarded the bus for the festival. Most of the young people I drove (and I'm talking about 10 busloads throughout the night) were very nice and just having a great time. Of course, definitely don't try to drive North on I-15 during the evenings of the festival. We had a special pass where we drove through Nellis Air Force Base to get to and from the festival as I-15 just becomes a parking lot.

June is usually a slower month in Vegas, and this event certainly is a boom to the economy. It is when it was held in Los Angeles that they had the drug problems. It's was relatively smooth last year in Las Vegas and I certainly hope the event stays here.
