Las Vegas 51's

Don't know where to post this so thought I'd try here. I always like to do something a little offbeat on my trips. This April I noticed that the 51's are in town. Has anyone ever been? Any advice? Thought it might be a good break from the casinos. Thanks for the replies
Seen one game there a few years ago. Great for viewing the game and getting some relaxtion. You will see some players that are busting their butts to make it big time. I did hear a few weeks ago they were looking for a buyer to purchase the team. Still a good way to spend a few hours.
Its alittle like going to a Spring training game. Everybody is more up close & personal.
And like Greek said, they are up & coming and busting their humps to make it to the Big leagues.
Good baseball.

Only thing they don't do? Comp your drinks. lol

It's really mot much different than going to a AAA ballpark anywhere else in the country. We did it a couple years ago and as casual baseball fans, it was casually fun.

They are the Toronto Blue Jays minor league affiliate. They have a lot of good talent on their roster. We plan on seeing a game or two next time we head down.
I've been to a lot of minor league ballparks and was expecting a unique "Las Vegas" ballpark. Nope. It's your run of the mill average ballpark. Even the concessions are nothing special.

After I got over my dissapointment, I enjoyed a good game in a nice ballpark. It is a nice distraction from the neon lights and noise of the strip, if that's what you're looking for.

Never seen the 51s, but a few years back I went to watch the Mariners final exibition game at Cashman Field. As was said, it's a triple A ballpark, which is not a bad thing. It's comfortable, food and drink are reasonable and it's fun. You could think of worse ways to spend a few hours in Vegas, especially if you want a break form the casinos.

Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for the replies. Sounds like it will provide the needed break and give another experience that most don't have in Vegas.
At differents times they were called the LV 51's and then the Aliens and back to the 51's. I'm trying to think how many farms teams they we really tied up with over the years. LA Dodgers---San Diego--Seattle. The year we went they were called the Aliens. They had a catcher by the name of Ben Davis. He went on to play for San Diego--Seattle and then the Yankees.

If you happen to go on a weekday you will not usually see a ton of fans there. You can pay for the cheap seats and pretty much sit wherever you want. This works really well on Sunday afternoon games also.
