Las Vegas ATM Fee's Now $11.99 at Caesars

Okay Kevin, I'll bite. Say you're at Caesars Palace and you need some cash. Where is the nearest no-fee or low-fee ATM?

Ellis Island was only charging $3 ATM fees last time I looked, which was admittedly three years ago. That place is worth the walk, just for the food. There's also a Chase Bank and a Wells Fargo ATM further down East Flamingo, by Maryland Parkway (not all that close).

But Nines' suggestion of Casino Royale, if that hasn't changed, is probably the best option.

Kevin, there is also a Wells Fargo in the Howard Hughes complex, about a block north off Flamingo, across from the Tuscany.  That's my go to on the way to Ellis Island from North Paradise.

I drove over there late in 2022, intending to use that ATM, only to find that the branch was shut down, and so was the ATM. If that was only a temporary thing, that would indeed be a relatively close-to-the-Strip ATM.

You run out of cash, you don't want to pay Caesars $12 to get more, a nice 25 minute walk might be a good idea. Or to put it differently, those who are terrified of such a walk are free to pay the $12.

Of course, the way to cut the Gordian knot is to never be in Caesars in the first place.

I agree. If you tap out your bankroll at Caesars, maybe you should go outside and clear your head before heading back to the tables.

But I've had my checking account at E*Trade for many years (now Morgan Stanley), and they reimburse all ATM fees.

Not sure if the branch is closed, as I never go inside.  At the ATM you can get $1500.  If I need more than that, I just go to the Wells Fargo on Maryland, across from the Mall.  You can get to it pretty quick from Paradise by taking Sierra Vista, which is between the Mardi Gras and Rennaissance Hotels.

Probably not sound reasoning on my part....but the only  reason I keep my checking account with Chase is because I know they have lots of branches in Vegas (and other vacation destinations).    Nice to be able to withdraw without fees when away from home....and if I hit the megabucks slot machine in Vegas I don't have to worry about getting all that cash home on the plane.     I can just deposit it at a local branch of my bank.    Pretty optimistic, I know.

If you hit Megabucks, you'll be able to afford being carried all the way home in an air-conditioned sedan chair while nubile maidens feed you grapes.

Using a debit card is such a head scratcher for me.

Why allow someone to charge you money to get your money?  Credit card protects you from someone draining the checking account tied to your ATM Card.   Credit card gives MEGA points bonuses (just returned from two weeks in Asia...flew biz class and 5* hotels...all paid for with points).

Why debit>credit card?  Is it because people lack money management?  Are they too lazy to track the credit card signup bonuses?  Scared to actually carry cash around?  I just don't understand.   It's a total NON-advantage play.  Never had a debit card.  Never will.

Credit cards aren't always free, and many carry a monthly maintenance charge. Not everybody can qualify for those big bonuses, and those megapoints or whatever they're called don't come for nothing.

But the biggest and best reason to use debit and not credit cards to finance your gambling excursions? With a debit card, you can't spend money you don't have. You'll never pay those criminally high interest rates on balances if you never run up a balance in the first place. And that goes for pretty much every other activity as well. You can't owe if you don't borrow.

Hello? Just get a Schwab checking account for totally reimbursed ATM fees already. No fees, no hard inquiry on your credit report. I mean what's the downside? Except that you don't get to whine about ATM fees anymore.
