I was out there the week before the bars closed. Planned a trip back at the end of October hoping this re opening goes well! Just not Vegas without my VP at the bar! Interesting how the Governor's dcisions based on science shift the night before the Raiders are on Prime Time! :)

The governor has been under ENORMOUS pressure from, well, just about everyone to throw everything wiiiide open. He has consistently wanted to do so only when case numbers started falling---which they have not significantly done. He's received numerous death threats, been the target of angry demonstrations, and had the full fury of the Las Vegas Review Journal (that Sheldon Adelson rag) and Fox News turned on him.

It's the sort of situation one can expect when Nevada's elected officials are of one ideological bent and the people who REALLY run things are of another. The casinos want profit, profit, profit to resume, with additional deaths being the price "they" are willing to pay (they're not the ones who will be paying it, of course).

I for one cannot imagine spending five seconds inside a bar, which is and has been proved to be a perfect superspreader environment. Even if a few people have masks dangling from their ears!!!

Because the only reason things ever were shut down were to keep hospital capacity available? Mission accomplished, we have figured out how to treat this virus. Protect the elderly and the vulnerable and let people choose how they want to exercise their freedoms! :)
