Las Vegas casino culture suffers rejection by gamblers of younger generations

This is something that many saw coming. --The latest statistics confirm the social chatter that Las Vegas tourism has hit a dramatic low, with some even calling Vegas an experience of the past. Only 3.1 million people visited Sin City in June, down 11.3% compared to last year, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). Social media users have called out the high prices of everything from dining to parking, citing these and other reasons for staying away - The hotel industry is also feeling the burn of fewer visitors. Occupancy rates dropped 6.5%, while average daily room rates have lowered to $163.64 – down 6.6%, according to the LVCVA -- Comments - In addition to Las Vegas loosing the younger generation to online gambling, the Strip Casino's have lost 90% of locals. The prices have become outrageous. They want $16-$20 for a cocktail that has 3/5th of an ounce of liqueur in it, $10 to $15 for a small bottle of beer and food prices that are out of this world. On top of the high prices, they charge $25 to $35 to park your car so you can then go in and get ripped off on food and beverage. --  people are not quite as stupid as Vagas thinks. When an advertised $75 a night hotel room suddenly ends up closer to $200 a night people rightly feel ripped off and cheated. . Las Vegas gambled with their customers and lost - It's the resort fee and $30 valet parking that did it for me! -- https://www.foxnews.com/travel/las-vegas-casino-culture-rejection-gamblers-younger-generations

That culture existed a year ago, and well before that. The difference now is that foreign, particularly Canadian, visitation is down. Last year, the President wasn't snarling about annexing Canada and slapping tariffs on the whole world. This year, the President is doing those things. People don't like to take their vacations in hostile countries.

This is where you rationalize it somehow, but the numbers, as they say, don't lie.

The Canadians might be doing us a favor by staying away. Maybe this will force a quicker change in Vegas.

I'm driving to Alaska next year. I'd like to know if Americans are experiencing any travel issues in Canada.

Nice catch - who says that the tariffs are not producing positive results....

The American dollar and Euro are strong compared to the Canadian dollar.  There are lots of foreign visitors right now in downtown Victoria. The hotels are packed.  Everyone I talk to says that it's a bargain staying here.

There are cultural events and festivals all summer long and the weather has been great.

It's pure idiocy to think or say that alienating Canadians is somehow beneficial--to ANYBODY.

BC is heaven in the summer. I advise any visitors to not wear anything that overtly states that they're from the US. Canadians are much too polite to say anything...but it would be like visiting Israel while wearing a swastika.

Reportedly, no. Unlike Americans, Canadians aren't stupid. Their economy depends heavily on trade and tourism. Furthermore, even with our glorious leader's awful behavior, they still like us (for now). So they'll still be glad to see you.

There is a potential monkey wrench, though. If Glorious Leader continues his trade war, border crossings--of which you'll need four--could become exponentially more difficult and time-consuming.

As far as Vegas goes, the alienation of foreign tourists may indeed create some short-term bargains, but in the long term, the effects on Vegas will be horrible. We've seen it already: the marginal properties will simply shut down. Less of everything for everybody--and ultimately, even fewer bargains.

Yale? You forgot to show this from the report -  Fiscal Effects: All tariffs to date in 2025 raise $2.7 trillion over 2026-35 , with $475 billion in negative dynamic revenue effects, bringing dynamic revenues to $2.2 trillion.
