Las Vegas History -- Re: LVA QOD 8/11/2013

Hey Group,

Another excellent site for Las Vegas history (especially about the Strip hotels) is at: https://www.lvstriphistory.com

Edited To Add: Also, I know of two more books about Las Vegas. They are: "Lady Las Vegas: The Inside Story Behind America's Neon Oasis" by Susan Berman and "The Money And The Power" by Sally Denton and Roger Morris. Both of these books also became Arts & Entertainment Channel Documentaries as well.

Both of these documentaries may still be available for purchase through the A&E/History Channel/or Biography Channel websites.

Furthermore, what I think is a decent explanation of the history of the Strip is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Las_Vegas_Strip

And I'm now remembering that the PBS Show "American Experience" had a good series about the history of Las Vegas called "Las Vegas: An Unconventional History."

And also, there was the 2 hour show "Vegas And The Mob" which was an episode of the show "American Justice" and also "Notorious" which have aired on Arts & Entertainment, History, And Biography Channels.

And I'm pretty sure that all of the TV shows that I have mentioned in this thread are available for purchase through their respective websites, so check this out!

Don't forget, A& E had an excellent series from 1998, Las Vegas: Gamble In The Desert. Was also called House of Cards in another installment.

Tim

I now see that "Vegas & The Mob" is for sale through https://shop.history.com/detail.php?p=66933&SESSID=2FO9c3123cc26218dd5b6ecd50bb7000&v=biography ,

"Las Vegas: An Unconventional History" is for sale through Barnes & Noble (online) as well as at Amazon.com

And the Las Vegas shows that Tim mentioned are all available to view through Youtube.com. All four episodes are about 46 Minutes each and do not have any commercials in them.

They are all listed on that site as being "The Real Las Vegas" with the episode names being "Boomtown" (Part 1), "Gamble On The Desert (Part 2), "Tarnished Dream" (Part 3) and "House Of Cards" (Part 4).

There is actually a lot of interesting stuff available about Las Vegas that you can watch on Youtube, so please do check this out!

But yes, there now is a lot of interesting Las Vegas video to view on Youtube as well as through Bing, so check that out!

Hey Group,

Sorry for the multiple posting again (this one seems to have gotten lost in space and showed up later) so I'm editing this to provide links to each of the episodes.

All four episodes are about 46 Minutes each and do not have any commercials in them.

They are all listed on Youtube as being "The Real Las Vegas" (even though the show itself on the screen says "Las Vegas") with the episode names being "Boomtown" (Part 1) at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8GaTDsYovA , "Gamble On The Desert (Part 2) at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c55abzXgj90 , "Tarnished Dream" (Part 3) at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15GaCe_vOCw , and "House Of Cards" (Part 4) at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vleh8Fq57mw .

Hopefully, all of these links works correctly.

And now please check above to my previous post where you should now find links to view each of the episodes of the A&E Special about Las Vegas.

I also want you to know that there are a couple of very short clips about the PBS show "Las Vegas: An Unconventional History" on Youtube, so you can check them out as well!
