Laughlin

Was there last Saturday to see Jay Leno who was excellent.

Stayed at the Golden Nugget.  Good food, great location on the river.

Gambling is average at best & the hotel & casino are in in desperate need of a makeover. Very old machines, ancient carpeting.   AC in the halls barely works.  My room's AC barely worked. even after engineering came up.  Bed was so so, pillows worse. Furniture & carpeting old. Found roaches in the coffee pot in the morning.  Complained to the am manager & she offered a small credit.  I told her she had to do better or else I would write a review.  She said go ahead.  Insisted on speaking to her boss.  After bartering with the manager we settled on a larger credit.

Would give this 2 out of 5 stars.  From what I can tell all the hotels here are below average.  Other than entertainment there is no reason to go

All true.  Don't forget the ridiculously low ceilings in most of the casino, which makes the air quality (smoke) crappy.

The last time I stayed there, the room smelled incredibly musty, as the AC had been off.   They moved me to another room after engineering couldn't get the AC working adequately to cool off the room on the typical 100 degree summer day there.

My other issue is that the hotel is built on a wood frame, not cement and steel.  Due to this, unless you are on the top floor, you're hear every footstep of the floor above you.   Not only that, but I could hear every person walking in the hallway on the floor above.   I've stayed in dozens of casino hotels, and this was the only one I've ever experienced with this issue.

A hotel/casino that's old, out of date, doesn't work too well, and smells musty is the perfect place for a customer base that's old, out of date, doesn't work too well, and smells musty. The average age of Laughlin visitors is 137.

Being in Laughlin voluntarily in the summer is like being in Fairbanks voluntarily in the winter.

Will be going to Laughlin on July 7th and 8th for the Clay Walker concert, and staying at the Aquarius.  Room and concert tickets are comped.  Rooms are fine, but don't care too much for the food there.  We usually will eat at the Regency Casino (The really little two story spot between the Aquarius and Edgewater), the Denny's at the Edgewater, or the Claim Jumper at the Golden Nugget. My wife and I will also play some, but save most of our bankroll for Vegas, where we'll be from July 9-14.  About the only time we go to Laughlin, is for the comped rooms and concerts.  Went to see Lynyrd Skynyrd at the end of May.

Have a Capriotti's sandwich at the Edgewater instead. You'll thank me.

My wife brought that up on our last trip.  We may just have to eat there before the concert on the 8th.  Thanks for the reminder, Kevin.

They have absolutely the best sandwiches this side of heaven. If you love Thanksgiving dinner, try the Bobbi.

Capriotti's should definitely be on any Laughlin visitors food rotation.  Also the In N Out across the street next to the Trop.  I highly recommend Bumbleberry Flats in the Pioneer.  I think the best diner/coffee shop in Laughlin.  I also highly recommend the Gourmet Room at the Riverside.  They do a good job of preparing classic more high end dishes.  I think al entrees are under $50 and includes a soup or salad starter and sides.

If you like to gamble and don't mind the smoke Laughlin is great.  If you're on this site you probably like to gamble and can tolerate smoke.  Places like the Riverside has it table games and poker room against a wall with large windows with great views of the Colorado river.  You won't find windows with views in Vegas casinos.  The BJ in many places is $10 min, SD and pays 3/2.  Shitty rules like no DAS and double 9-11 only but it's still fun.  Aquarius has 9/6 jacks in quarters to dollars denom and only $2K-$3K of coin in seems to be enough for free room offers.

I usually come to Vegas for a couple of weeks.  A couple relaxing days in Laughlin is a nice way to split the trip up.

Thank for information all

thought of going to Laughlin

been a long time Yet if as explaned

not sure Wouldn't stay over

night anyway We have comped

rooms at Flamingo next visit.
