Low money trip

My spouse and I are going to Vegas, middle to late April. Because he just retired we are still waiting for his retirement checks to start. The money situation is tight. We would not even be going but my brother is getting married at the Riv. We usually go to Vegas every year, but now I need free or low cost stuff to do. We've been to see the sharks, the lions and the secret garden. We've seen the fountains at Bellagio. We plan to go back to see the volcano and my husband wants to go to TI for the Sirens show. Do you know of anything besides the "usual" that we may not know about? Many thanks for any help!

The Neon museum is terrific, and inexpensive.
The Atomic Testing museum was cool. and they have coupons on their website for a few bucks off. I think we paid $11 each. Spent about 3 1/2 hours there. But we are both geeks hence the long time there. our nephew and NIL were done in about 1/2 that time! LOL

Not sure if they still do it,but there used to be a bus excursion to Laughlin. It left about 9-10 in the morning and came back about 6, so you had about five actual hours in Laughlin. It cost $5, but you were given a lunch buffet. If you haven't been there, it'll be something new. While ther, you can walk along the river on the nicely paved walk that leads from casino to casino. By the time you've explored all the casinos along the walk and had your lunch, it should about time for the return trip for about $5 a head. Not bad for a days entertainment. The bus ride will show you a bit of Vegas, Henderson, the metropolis of Searchlight and of course Laughlin.Oh yeah, since it's about a 100 miles from LV, you'll also see a tad bit if desert scenery!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck!

i do the laughlin thing in rental about every year. this isnt a reason to go, but if you do: look at the 'horizon' when your coming down the slope at christmas tree pass (us 95 part of the trip only- do NOT leave the highway from the shorter element that connects to the laughlin strip). It never fails to amaze me that the slope is so smooth, consistent, & unchanging I briefly considered it man-made. unh-uh. i now think its just weird.
good luck!
Just walk down to the Western one night and go in there. I heard that you will get some free entertainment!
Don't dismiss the fountains at Bellagio-- they are a constant source of beauty and entertainment to me... see a show from the sidewalk, then walk UP back to the front by valet and view them again.

Day is different from night..

I love those fountains
Even with today's car rental and gas prices a rental car provides access to unlimited cheap entertainment.

Being from Indiana I find the mountains and desert extremely interesting. When we are losing or doing a cheap trip we have done:
Red Rock
Valley of Fire
Mt Charlston
Laughlin
Dealth Valley
Parumph
Hoover Dam
Ely
Drove the entire length of Las Vegas BVD both ways
Try to get lost in Vegas.
Try to get lost in the desert.
There is no limit.
The old gold mining town of Oatman, AZ was a good day trip--our path was Hoover Dam, south to Route 66 over to Oatman for lunch and back through Laughlin to Las Vegas. Burros in the streets of Oatman, and traveling down Rt 66 were a good break to the casino action. Probably saved me a lot of money as well. :-)
