Low money trip

I agree with 'Cat -- the Bellagio fountains are great. I'd rather watch the fountains again then ever go and see the "Sirens of TI".

Also, while you're there, make sure you go inside of the Bellagio and check out the conservatory (just keep walking straight forward as you walk in the main entrance). They change it up for each season, and it's always fantastic -- a great, free experience.

It's free to walk through the various new casinos, too, of course. If you haven't been to City Center, there's a fair amount to see in the Aria casino and the Crystals shopping mall. Cosmopolitan just opened, too, and I'm sure there's a lot to explore.
Thanks to eveyone for the great ideas! We'll be in Vegas in Six weeks!

Thanks for the posting BernieB - I wont be there till the end of June but I'm taking my girlfriend and it'll be her first time so I'm looking for some inexpensive things to do during the down time.
This is what I would suggest:

Spend a day downtown! Have a Shrimp Cocktail at Golden Gate $1.99 at the snack bar (If you walk over by the cafe you will see historical items, the first phone downtown, the old register etc.) Also at Mermaids you can get a deep fried oreo, twinki or a choc covered frozen banna for .99 cents. You have a lot of food options downtown. You can get your picture taken with a million dollars at binions. The Fremont experience light show at night is neat if you have never seen it! If you need cheap souviners they are everywhere downtown (I think they are getting too many shops with big signs .99 cents. (After the first store it seems that they have the same stuff. The ABC store is nicer though.) They also have entertainment at night on Fremont and vendors selling things.

Not sure if you are driving, but I like the drive between the Riv and downtown. The area is improving, last time I drove I saw someone getting married in the drive thru chapel. Now that's an only in Vegas thing!

Have Fun!

If you have a car, you can also walk the new Hoover Dam Bypass bridge(and of course see the dam). After visiting the bridge and dam, there is Lake Mead. It's $10 but the pass is good for a week. Many nice pulloffs for views of the lake. On the way back you can also check out the Lake Las Vegas area. Boulder City is also an interesting little side trip on the way to the dam. Finally there is also the Dr Lonnie Hammargren house on Sandhill between Tropicana and Flamingo(you don't see it all but what you can see is ... unexpected).
My husband and I went to the Auto Collection at the Imperial palace. Might not be for everyone, but we enojyed it. Visit www.autocollections.com and you can print off free admission passes. I hope that I typed out that website correctly.
If you or your spouse like Chocolate, there is the Chocolate Fountain in front of the Patisserie (sp?) in Bellagio.

Pinball Museum is an inexpesive way to spend a few hours.

A free activity I don't recall being mentioned for that reason would be gaming lessons. Many have lessons for BJ, Craps and Poker They might even have lessons for others, I don't know. You could learn a game you don't know, chewing up a couple of hours including travel time in the process.

Good Luck!
