Las Vegas (General) - Major changes on these boards

We are a few days away from launching the redeveloped LasVegasAdvisor.com. The original plan was to eliminate the message boards completely, as the new website allows comments in all areas. But late in the process we decided against that and the new site will have a message boards. The late decision, however, required us to make some significant changes.

1. The only way to put the boards on the new site on short notice is to locate them in ShopLVA. This will be temporary and shouldn't affect the user experience.

2. There will be only three categories to start. You can start as many topics as you like, but they will all be in the same spot.

3. For now, at least, there will be no member-only boards; all categories on the boars will be open to all.

4. We will not be migrating content from the current board. Hopefully, we will be able to archive these posts so they will be accessible to read, but that's not a given. So you should make files of the information you want to keep.

These changes may take place as early as March 21. When they do, it's likely that you will be automatically redirected to the new message boards, but if not, you’ll be able to access them at LasVegasAdvisor.com/shop/forums, or link to the forums in the Member Benefits drop-down menu on the top navigation bar.

I guess I'll pick it up here, following the post I made in March about the state of the forums. Without getting into all of it, we went through a lot of back-and-forth in deciding what type of presence we wanted to have and opted to go beyond our original plans based on input from you. These boards are very similar to our previous in design, but with much better (and faster) software. Although I stated that we wouldn't be migrating content, almost all of the categories are back, along with previous posts within. Some of the subjects we didn't reopen, e.g., the old sports betting threads, are still available to peruse read-only. There are sure to be some bugs, so let us know what you find.

I appreciate your efforts to reinstate these forums. The forums have been a huge source of info and helped in many of my past decisions concerning my planning trips to Vegas.
