Mandalay Bay Agrees To $500k Fine In Sex, Drug Sting

Hi Group,

I found this article online today (3/13/2014) about misdeeds in the House Of Blues Foundation Room and Mandalay Bay agreeing to a $500,000 Fine: https://news.msn.com/crime-justice/mandalay-bay-agrees-to-dollar500k-fine-in-sex-drug-sting.

not sure what the big deal is. Las Vegas was built on this. I guess they should arrest every employee and visitor in the city.

Actually, very few Las Vegas employees and visitors engage in drug use and prostitution. Not sure how you spend your days, but maybe it's warped your perceptions.

Nevada's casino industry tries to have broad appeal. Remember, it's the biggest industry in the state, hundreds of thousands of livelihoods in Nevada depend on the tourist trade.

And because most people don't like to frequent places rife with drugs and hookers and because there are plenty of other places for them to visit, Nevada's cops, prosecutors, and Gaming Control Board try to limit that activity.

Make sense?
Not sure how you spend your days, but maybe you are not in touch with reality. Every casino you walk into in Vegas has drugs and prostitution. You yourself may not see it, but it is there. I do not engage in illegal drugs, but I do engage in drugs (ever heard of alcohol). I also do not hire hookers, but I do have eyes, and I do see them, and I have been solicited every time to I go to Las Vegas, in the same casinos and hotels that you yourself visit or even stay. This may come as a shock, but yes, there are drugs and hookers in Las Vegas in every casino and hotel in Las Vegas. Make sense?

Just go to any and I mean any bar in any casino and a female will ask you "are you alone" or something to that effect. As I have no use for such things I stay at the Orleans, a family friendly casino and I get hit up every trip. I don't have a problem with the trade and I do like to look.
Yes, I like the eye candy as well, and I think it adds to the ambience of Las Vegas. (It is called Sin City for a reason.)

You would do well to read the portion of your post I responded to. The part about arresting "every employee and visitor in the city" in particular. Might help you not waste your time creating strawmen to argue with.

No one smart would suggest that illegal drugs and prostitutes are not common in casino hotels. Where we apparently disagree is the degree to which casino hotels participate in those illegal activities. I think the rarity of the Mandalay Bay crackdown speaks to that. Sure, it happens, but it's not an "every employee and visitor in the city" problem.

Do you really think you're advancing this discussion by noting that alcohol could be characterized as a drug?

As for prostitutes soliciting you every time you're in Vegas, yes, we differ there too, perhaps they see something in you that causes them, in their professional assessment, to conclude you look like someone who really needs the services of a prostitute. Just something to ponder.
I don't think the prostitutes really look much further than to see if you are without significant other and if you can afford it. I was surprised by the amount of prostitutes working the casinos. I knew you could phone them in, but evidently they are pretty common in the bars too.

They don't bother me, I find the whole thing rather amusing. To each their own.
Flaming. Who knew it could happen here, too. Later...
