Not sure what they meant. Maybe because I live in NYC where a trip to the airport can take over an hour, I find McCarren pretty accessible.
Tom, I'd say since it was a list of rookie mistakes, this can happen. The first time (long time ago) we took one of those airport shuttles, paid for the round trip. Airport TO hotel, not a problem. Waiting for the return ride, I don't know if the shuttle ever got to the hotel to pick us up (and calling the number didn't help). At least 45 minutes later than expected time we freaked out and got a taxi. Never again.
Also, though it isn't so much now, at one time it could be a longer wait for the taxi, traffic back up, or to gas up the rental, get the rental turned in, lines long at the airport, etc.
Or be so engrossed in gambling and cut it so short that any of the above could run one short on time.
