Monorail Question

Directly in front of Paris is a bus stop. Pay $7 to the machine at the stop for a 24 hour bus pass. Put the pass in your purse and forget about it (you'll only need to show it if a uniformed inspector asks to see it).

Hop aboard any door of the sleek and modern Strip and Downtown Express ("SDX"), which runs north to its very next stop, the Wynn, every 12-14 minutes every day from 10A to 8P, less at other hours. The Fashion Show Mall is across the street. Here's a map of your trip.

To come back, board SDX right in front of the mall, and hop off at the next stop, Cosmopolitan, which sits across the street and a bit south of Paris.

Thanks...so the station used to be way back through the casino shops, if you will. When they drop you off now....is it a safe walk back to the strip? Kind of a sketchy neighborhood there, isn't it?
Sahara Station is nowhere near your destination. As Monty Python would say - This thread is getting extremely silly!

I don't think monkeyshed is going to The Fashion Show Mall, but is just interested in whether or not the Saraha Monorail Station is still in operation.

It depends what you mean by "the strip." If you just mean walking westerly to Las Vegas Blvd., it is a brief walk, not even enough to break a sweat.

No one here or elsewhere can guarantee your safety. But if for some inexplicable reason I chose to walk from the Sahara station to Las Vegas Blvd. (??), I wouldn't be overly concerned about my own safety.
Random thought inspired by thread......

Wondering if that isn't one of the core problems of the monorail - the fact that it is sort of a "backdoor" enterprise - picking up and delivering people at the backdoor.

We rode once more or less to say we did - MGM where we stayed that time to Sahara -and the views along the route were somewhat less than awe inspiring. There was an LVA coupon associated with the purchase that contributed to the decision. I would guess the design was simply to be functional transportation, not necessarily an attraction in itself.

Too bad there couldn't have been more of an inclusion into the areas of the strip where stuff is actually going on, instead of the backs of buildings and parking ramps. People would have had "lights, camera, action" to look at, which I think would have made riding more attractive. Probably would have had to accomplish the construction in a manner that didn't detract from the "store front" areas - which I suppose was too tough to do - so back street was the answer.

In other words, I wouldn't ride it to the Mall either!
Well, one of the reasons they built it that way
was to utilize the portion that was already there.

I always thought if they built it down the center of the Strip that would have made it an instant success.

Connecting it to the airport would have been a no-brainer also.

I only use it when I stay at MGM and take it to LVH or vice-versa.

Both have easy short entrance-exits and I doubt anyone could get from one to the other any faster.

Other than that, it only gets a C grade IF
you stay at one of the other props on the run and going to another prop on the route.

Too bad they took a great idea and turned it into a mediocre one.
