More Re: Nevada Earthquakes -- LVA QOD 4/2/2014

Hi Group,

I remember seeing several years ago on the Weather Channel a show called "It Could Happen Tomorrow" with an episode called "Las Vegas Earthquake." It might still be able to be seen somewhere. I believe that it was in the Second season and was I think the 7th episode.

On this show I had learned that Nevada is the 3rd most seismic state behind California and Alaska. And I just saw yesterday an article from the "Las Vegas Sun" where it was talking about the 8 biggest earthquakes in the area, so check that out if you're interested.

Also, there should be some stuff on Youtube if you type in "Las Vegas Earthquake" or something like that.

My 1st trip to Vegas was in June of 1992. We stayed at Bally's on one of the upper floors and were married in the wedding chapel there. Early one morning we were awoken by the swaying of the building. Many people running out into the hallway not knowing what was going on, someone said "earthquake" and it finally clicked. It only lasted 30 seconds or a minute, but we weren't going back to bed after that. The casino was packed that morning with everyone leaving their rooms. There were a few more aftershocks but nothing like the initial shaking!
Think about that the next time your on the outside observation deck of the Stratosphere!!

What about being at the top on the High Roller and if it malfunctions and shuts down during EQ? Even with an emergency power supply, what if it shifts and can't operate safely?
